Allwyn Court Joins Phelps Media Group Clientele

Wellington, FL – January 31, 2006- Today Phelps Media Group, Inc. International (PMG), an equestrian related public relations firm based in Wellington, Florida, announced the signing of Allwyn Court to the PMG client roster. Allwyn Court, a hunter and jumper show barn now based out of Wellington, Florida, is owned by Kathy and Gerry Newman and their daughter Katherine. The family recently sold their farm in Middleburg, Virginia to reside full-time in their Wellington home.

Both Kathy and Gerry Newman train their fifteen year old daughter, who shows in the Junior Jumper, Junior Working Hunter, and Equitation divisions. In addition, the Newmans have a number of competitive students who compete in the Adult Amateur and Amateur-Owner Hunters. Allwyn Court attends the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, which is held from January 25-March 19, 2006 at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club.

Since Kathy is unable to ride after an accident, their daughter is helping out with more of the riding and farm responsibilities. Castleton, a First Year Green Horse that Kathy normally rides, is currently being ridden by Tim Goguen during the Winter Equestrian Festival. In addition, Castleton is shown by owner Pam Dudley in the Amateur-Owner Hunters. Mimi Abel-Smith, who has been a client of the Newmans for over twenty years, currently rides in the Amateur-Owner Hunters on her mount Almelo. Around seventy years old, Abel-Smith is still an enthusiastic competitor in the arena who also purchases horses for Katherine.

Katherine competes with the horses Barcelona, Royal D’Or, Gran Cru, and Timeless for owner Mimi Abel-Smith. Barcelona shows in the Children’s Working Hunter division and picked up a reserve championship during the first week of the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF). Royal D’Or is piloted by Katherine in the Low Junior Jumper division and took home the division championship this past week. Katherine hopes to move up to the High Junior Jumpers during this year’s WEF circuit. In addition, Katherine shows Gran Cru in the Large Junior Working Hunters and earned a champion in that division as well. Abel-Smith’s Timeless is Katherine’s equitation horse and will show in all the of equitation classes available at WEF.

“It’s always nice to promote another winner,” commented Mason Phelps, President of Phelps Media Group, Inc. International about Allwyn Court. “PMG is growing by the day, and we are about representing the very best in equestrian sport. Allwyn Court is a great addition to our client roster. We are also thrilled to follow Katherine’s career in the show ring.”

The busy fifteen year old, who home schools because of her show schedule, also shows Corvet Z, owned by her parents, and enjoys catch rides when they are available. When not in the saddle, Katherine is busy helping her parents and the assistant manager and trainer, Kim Eli, run the farm and sell horses. “We were away from the farm last week, and Katherine really worked hard to help our assistant trainer Kim,” stated her mother proudly. “She was showing horses to potential buyers, managing the farm, and making sure that everything ran smoothly. She is really a responsible kid. I don’t know many other fifteen year olds who would be out there working that hard.”

The Newmans attribute much of their success to Mimi Abel-Smith, who has become Katherine’s biggest fan and supporter. “She is such a wonderful person,” commented Kathy. “We have been so fortunate to have Mimi as a client and friend for so long. She is a great horsewoman.”

After the Winter Equestrian Festival, Allwyn Court will compete at shows in Kentucky, Spruce Meadows, Devon, Lake Placid, Washington D.C., Harrisburg, and Syracuse. Phelps Media Group, Inc. International looks forward to covering the success of the Newman family and their clients.
