Appaloosa Journal is recognized with American Horse Publications awards

Appaloosa Journal was recently honored with seven awards at the 2008 American Horse Publications seminar and awards ceremony. The seminar took place in Saratoga Springs, New York, June 19–21, 2008. This year’s contest, for material published in 2007, included 1,092 entries from 105 members, which were judged and critiqued by a select panel of independent industry judges. Appaloosa Journal’s placings included:
Design: 2007 Equine-Related Calendar (6 entries)
First place - designer Laura Vander Ploeg
Design: Publication Staff Advertisement, circulation 10,000 and over (28 entries)
Second place - "Breed of Choice: Fun to Own" - designer Holli Sampson
Editorial: Service to the Reader, circulation 10,000–20,000 (22 entries)
Third place - "Spotted in the Gate" by Tafra Donberger
Design: One- or two-page spread editorial (19 entries)
Third place - "Pasture Partners" - designer Evan Thompson
Design: Magazine Cover Page, circulation 10,000–20,000 (29 entries)
Third place - "Craving Color" - designer Laura Vander Ploeg
Editorial: Personal Column, circulation under 20,000 (40 entries)
Honorable Mention - "The Bling Thing" by Diane Rice
Editorial: Personality Profile, circulation 10,000–20,000 (42 entries)
Honorable Mention - "A Straight Shooter" by Cheryl Dudley

Appaloosa Journal received an additional honor when its editor, Diane Rice, was elected to the American Horse Publications Board of Directors at the seminar.
