Barbaro: The Horse Who Captured America’s Heart: Finalist for Two Awards

Lexington, KY — April 21, 2008 — Barbaro: The Horse Who Captured America’s Heart, written by Sean Clancy and published by Eclipse Press, is a finalist for two awards given to independent publishers. It is one of three finalists in the recreation/sports category for the 2008 Benjamin Franklin Award given by the Independent Book Publishers Association (PMA) as well as a finalist for Foreword Magazine’s Book of the Year in the sports category.
Both awards will be announced during separate events held during the 2008 Book Expo America at the Los Angeles Convention Center in late May. PMA is hosting an awards party on May 29 and Foreword Magazine is hosting an event on May 30.
The Foreword annual contest drew 1,600 entries in 61 categories. These were narrowed to 658 finalists, representing 350 publishers.
Barbaro: The Horse Who Captured America’s Heart is one of the most successful books in the history of Eclipse Press. It is currently available through Amazon.com or local book stores.
Critically acclaimed author Sean Clancy is a former champion steeplechase jockey. Clancy’s lifelong association with horses led him to his career as editor/publisher of ST Publishing, producer of The Saratoga Special and Steeplechase/Eventing Times, among other projects. Clancy is also the author of Saratoga Days and co-author of The Best of The Saratoga Special.
