DFG Stables Score Another Huge Week of Victories

Aiken, SC March 9, 2009—The riders of Aiken, SC based DFG Stables continue their winning ways for the finale week of March Madness, held at Highfield’s Event Center, scoring several Championships and top spots in the $10,000 Prix.

Head trainer Daniel Geitner started the week with Reserve Championship honors in the Aiken County Hunters aboard the Sabrina Giancroce owned Saint Jimmy. Geitner also picked up a blue ribbon in the Pre Green 3’ Hunters with Katherine Paul’s Noblio, plus a pair of red ribbons for owner Laura Regan riding her Orient de Mesille and a 3rd place aboard Regan’s Zelano. In the Pre Green 3’3 section Geitner gathered up a couple of 1st place ribbons for owner Kathryn Hendrickson riding Mercury.

Switching to the jumper arena Geitner was triumphant in the Welcome Stake piloting Laura Regan’s Wiedan to the win and a 5th place finish with the CDS Stables’ entry Neville. Daniel again captured several top placings with the up and coming jumpers, starting with Capall, LLC’s entry White Oak taking 3rd in the Meter 1.15 jumpers. Janet Peterson’s Baldato Van’t Merelsnest also picked up a 3rd place in the Meter 1.15 section with Geitner in the irons. He also grabbed a 3rd place position with Ostara in the Meter 1.05 division for owner Margaret Hirschfield.

Also from the jumper arena owner-rider Laura Regan captured the win with Verdi in the Meter 1.25 jumpers and Kathryn Jarriel placed 2nd in the Children’s Jumper division aboard Wat Tyler. Owner-rider Randy Hannold rode Grandisimo to a 2nd place in the Adult jumpers, while Catherine Stumberg took the 4th position with sister Sara’s Riverdance. “Cat” also placed 7th with Snook in the NAL-WISH Children-Adult Jumper Classic.

After coaching team DFG most of the weekend, Daniel took centered stage once more in the jumper arena, as he and the Kyle Register owned Trading Places were victorious in the $10,000 Mini Prix. Geitner also rode Laura Regan’s Wiedan to a 3rd place finish in the prix. The always modest winner stated simply, “It’s always nice to win in front of the home town crowd.”

More big winners from the DFG team scoring tri colored ribbons this week included

the Amateur Owner Hunter 35 & Over section where Kimberly Quinn skipped away with both Champion and Reserve Champion titles riding Gershwin and Springsteen, respectively. Quinn and Springsteen also placed 2nd in the NAL-WIHS Amateur Owner Hunter Classic. While Anna Wells-Sharp and partner Kissme took Championship honors in the Adult Amateur Hunter 35 & Over division. The pair also placed 3rd in the NAL-WIHS Adult hunter Classic. Kathryn Hendrickson scored a 2nd place in the NAL-WIHS Adult Amateur 18-36 Hunter Classic. And Molly Donohue placed 5th in the NAL-WIHS Children’s Hunter 15-17 Classic riding Sinatra, owned by Kimberly Quinn.

Daniel and the DFG family will take a week off to relax before heading to Conyers, GA for the Atlanta Spring Classics competition at the Georgia International Horse Park.
