Equine Health to be Featured at Equine Affaire Ohio

Members of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) will present the latest equine health information during Equine Affaire, to be held April 6 - 9 at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio. Veterinarians understand that good equine health begins at home with proper daily care, and Equine Affaire offers owners the opportunity to learn more about how to
best care for their horses.

A variety of veterinary topics will be featured, including treatments for Cushing’s disease, understanding tying-up, managing horses with heaves, low carbohydrate diets, evaluating back pain, and massage therapy. Laura Gallatin, DVM; Michael Schmall, DVM; Steve Reed, DVM; Shannon Pratt, PhD; Catherine Kohn, VMD; and Susan Wilcox, DVM are among the veterinary and horse-health experts who will be speaking at the event.

Designed to connect horse enthusiasts and the people and businesses that serve them, Equine Affaire also will host breed showcases, dozens of clinics and a trade show with hundreds of vendors. Attendees can visit the AAEP booth (#414 in the Bricker Building) for additional horse-health information and giveaways. For more information about the scheduled speakers or the AAEP’s owner education program, contact Dana Kirkland, owner education coordinator, at dkirkland@aaep.org or call the AAEP office at (859) 233-0147. For the complete Equine Affaire Ohio schedule, visit http://www.equineaffaire.com.

The American Association of Equine Practitioners, headquartered in Lexington, Ky., was founded in 1954 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the health and welfare of the horse. Currently, the AAEP reaches more than 5 million horse owners through its over 9,000 members worldwide and is actively involved in ethics issues, practice management, research and continuing education in the equine veterinary profession and horse industry.
