South Hamilton, Massachusetts – March 27, 2007 - A unique musical experience will underscore the sport of show jumping during the five-day 2007 Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic. bluhammock Music, an independent record label, will host ten freestanding “blu” hammocks for spectators to relax in ringside while listening to music by bluhammock artists on “blu” iPod Nanos. bluhammock recording artist Jim Boggia will commence the week of fun filled events hosted at the Jumper Classic with a live performance at the Boston Common Magazine Kick-Off Party at Misselwood, Endicott College’s breathtaking oceanfront venue. In addition, bluhammock’s recording artist’s music will be heard throughout the venue for the five- day event. Jim Boggia will also entertain the audience on Sunday, the day of the Grand Prix competition with a live performance during the bluhammock Music Intermission between the $10,000 Mohegan Sun Speed Stake and the $75,000 Fidelity Investments Grand Prix.
A musical venue at the September show is a “way to meld and merge people’s passions,” says equestrian and founder of bluhammock Music, Jaylaan Llewellyn. “I wanted to sponsor the show because the opportunity to provide music as a soundtrack to a sport that means so much to me is a unique way to enhance the experience for competitors and spectators alike. This is music people can make their memories to.” She recalls that when riding at equestrian competitions, she often wondered why the music on the loudspeakers – if any – was not very inspiring for such an exhilarating event. “Music is a soundtrack for your life. When you hear a certain song, you remember what you were doing when you heard it. That’s the concept behind our music label.”
In addition to the Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic, bluhammock Music sponsored the Palm Beach Equine Clinic and Adequan Gold Coast Jumper Classic Grand Prix at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida. “At one point when I looked out at the spectator area, there were ten hammocks swinging in the breeze, with people relaxing and listening to music under the blue sky,” says Jaylaan. The company’s 2007 sponsorships also include Polo at Bridgehampton, Newport Film Festival, Hamptons Film Festival, and the Nantucket Wine Festival.
bluhammock, based in New York and distributed through Red, a Sony company, currently has six signed artists that represent the independent label’s image of upscale, evocative music to match lifestyles and activities that active people enjoy, such as equestrian events and sailing. The artists are Cary Brothers, Virginia Coalition, Kristoffer Ragnstam, Speech, Swati, and Jim Boggia, a Philadelphia singer-songwriter whose vintage sound is interwoven with contemporary emotions to produce engaging songs. Boggia will perform selections from his two albums during the intermission, and will sing the national anthem during opening ceremonies on the day of the Grand Prix.
During the Jumper Classic, bluhammock will raffle a jeweled iPod Nano loaded with songs from all of its artists. In addition to the bluhammock stations swinging to music ringside, the company will also download cards to people stopping by the hammocks that are good for 25 free downloads. “We’re always looking for new ways to add to the exciting and entertaining atmosphere of our show,” says Jumper Classic President, Melissa Lovasco. “bluhammock will provide a whole new sound experience for our riders and spectators, and will introduce them to new music to enjoy long after the show.”
