THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF NEW YORK HOSTS 3rd ANNUAL FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY AUCTION AT BARYSHNIKOV ARTS CENTER ON APRIL 16, 2007

DONATING ARTWORK TO RAISE FUNDS FOR ANIMALS IN NEED

NEW YORK, NY (March 12, 2007) – The Humane Society of New York (HSNY), Honorary Chair Cornelia Guest and Chairperson Lydia Hearst will host the Fine Art Photography Auction at the Baryshnikov Arts Center (450 West 37th Street, New York City) on April 16, 2007. The auction will go live at the event and online at http://www.humanesocietyny.org at 8 PM the night of event.

Photographs have been donated by Mikhail Baryshnikov, Kathryn Abbe, Michael Eastman, Arthur Elgort, Elliott Erwitt, Fabrizio Ferri, Mary Hilliard, Mary Ellen Mark, Frances McLaughlin Gill, Michael O'Neill, Rowland Scherman, Martha Swope, Deborah Turbeville, Nitin Vadukul, William Wegman and from the Milton H.

Greene archives. More donations are expected. One hundred percent of the proceeds will help over 300,000 animals depending on HSNY’s veterinary clinic and adoption center.

Celebrated photographer Roberto Dutesco, who hosted a benefit for the HSNY in his gallery in 2006, has donated a beautiful piece from his The Wild Horses of Sable Island collection. The sepia-toned print of two horses inhabiting this Nova Scotia Island, which is the site of over 200 shipwrecks, is called Play.
