South Hamilton, Massachusetts, September 4, 2007--
The Jumper Classic in South Hamilton, Massachusetts will host two luncheons on Family Day sponsored by Ultimate Resort, September 8th. These luncheons will benefit riding programs for underprivileged children and children with special needs.
Lovelane Therapeutic Riding of Lincoln, Massachusetts returns for the fifth year with a champagne luncheon and ladies' hat contest. Both children and adults will enjoy ringside seating while watching top notch show jumping competition. Established in 1998, Lovelane now has nine instructors and provides more than 4,000 individual therapeutic riding sessions a year to children and young adults from 25 MetroWest and greater Boston communities.
The discovery of new abilities, new experiences, and the relationship with the horse brings children great pleasure while improving their motor skills, muscle tone, spatial awareness, self-discipline, and self-esteem as well as overall health. Therapeutic horseback riding combines physical activity and the sheer joy of riding a horse with occupational, physical, and/or speech therapy.
City to Saddle, a Boston-area charitable organization that enables underprivileged, inner city children to enjoy the benefits of horseback riding will host its first benefit luncheon at the Jumper Classic. The riding program encourages children to exercise patience and compassion, while building confidence and trust in horses and other people. With the support of The Dana Hall School, Dover Saddlery, local riders and businesses, and several area equestrian centers, City to Saddle has enrolled over 100 boys and girls in the program since 2003.
Riding horses is a totally unique experience for the children in the program, who enjoy a different environment outside the urban and metro areas, and learn that they need great patience and trust in the animals, themselves, and the people supporting them.
Ticket includes admission, parking, and lunch with a wine bar, served ringside under the City to Saddle tent... a perfect spot for viewing top national and international riders compete at New England's premier jumping event.
"The Jumper Classic has a long tradition of supporting charities that benefit children," said Melissa Lovasco, President of the Jumper Classic, now in its 18th year. "The impact that Lovelane Therapeutic Riding and City to Saddle have on local children with special needs and circumstances cannot be overly praised. These are two very dynamic programs that we are pleased to be affiliated with through our event." In 2006, over 200 people, including sponsors, attended the Lovelane luncheon to help raise funds for the program.
