Karen Healey Stables Leads the Way for Equitation Riders at Indio

Indio, CA – February 28, 2006 – It was another fantastic week for Karen Healey Stables at the Indio Desert Circuit, which is in its fourth week of competition. On February 21-26, 2006, the equitation riders of Karen Healey Stables virtually shut out the competition.
The most impressive finish for Karen Healey Stables was in the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search class, where they placed the top five out of six riders. The win went to Veronica Tracy of San Juan Capistrano, CA. Shelby Wakeman of Westlake, CA, took second place, while Alexandra Conforti of La Canada, CA, finished fourth. Fifth place went to Woodland Hills, CA, resident Megan Edrick, and Tiffany Weeda of San Juan Capistrano, CA, was sixth.
“I really have an amazing group of kids and great horses right now,” said Karen Healey. “All of my riders are good kids and great competitors.” She added with a laugh, “I hope we’re not peaking too soon!”
Weeda rode to the win in the USEF Junior Medal class, and Tracy was third. The ASPCA Maclay class was split into two sections this weekend at Indio. In Section A, Carly Anthony of Redmond, WA, rode San Francisco, owned by Arwen Farms, to second place. The pair also took second place in the HBO Medal. In Section B of the Maclay, Shelby Wakeman was second. Hannah Selleck, who also trains with Nicole Simpson, was third in the Maclay and finished strong with a win in the WCE Medal. Karoline Sauls of Agoura Hills, CA, was second in the Charles Owen Adult Medal class.
Wakeman had the high score to capture the blue ribbon in the hunter phase of the Washington International Horse Show Equitation Classic. She then made the switch to her new horse Punker and finished fifth in the High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic. Karen Healey Stables assistant trainer Kasey Ament got the ride on Punker in the Level 7 Jumpers, where they finished fourth.
Not to be outdone, the hunters of Karen Healey Stables continued their success as well. Lucy Davis piloted Macy Grey to the championship in the Medium Pony Hunters. They had an amazing performance over the weekend that netted them three blue ribbons and three second place ribbons. Davis also won the Pony Equitation over fences class.
Mary Ann Weisberg-Perry and Country Grammar finished third in the Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic, and picked up a second and two fourth place finishes in the Amateur-Owner 36 & Over Hunters.
The peak of winning is sure to continue as Karen Healey Stables show once again at the Indio Desert Circuit on February 28- March 5.
