Karen Healey Stables Successful at Ranch and Coast Horse Show in California

Del Mar, CA- May 16- The Ranch and Coast Horse Show was held at Showpark in Del Mar this past week, May 10-15. Karen Healey and her students had another successful week of competition in the hunter, jumper and equitation divisions.

Mary Ann Weisberg-Perry and her stunning chestnut gelding, Touchstone, were reserve champions in the Amateur-Owner 36 & Over Hunters this week. Touchstone and Weisberg-Perry were also second in the Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic. As an interesting note, Touchstone was one of the eight horses chosen to compete in the WCHR World Cup Team Challenge in Las Vegas, NV, this past April and got top scores with hunter rider Louise Serio and international show jumper Rodrigo Pessoa.

In the equitation ring, Caitlin Chapin and All That won the hunter phase of the Washington International Horse Show Equitation Classic. Points are accumulated throughout the year in these classes and riders with the most points qualify to compete in the finals at the Washington International Horse Show in October. Alison Lajoie and Cosmo had two second place finishes in the CPHA Foundation Medal class and the USEF Adult Medal class.

Things also went well in the jumper ring this week for Karen Healey and her students. Tedra Bates and Europa Eins won a tough 1.40meter jumper class against 81 other competitors. Lauren Hester and her amazing horse, Oxford, won the Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers and are maintaining their lead in the nation in the Junior Jumper division. They currently have over 12,000 points in the division for the US Equestrian Federation.

Hester was also successful on two other mounts. On the striking grey, K2, she was second overall in the Washington International Horse Show Equitation Classic. On Timeless, she won the WCE Medal and the Equitation 15-17 over fences class.

Karen Healey and her riders will move to the Memorial Day Classic in Los Angeles, CA, on May 26-30, to compete and defend their titles and national rankings.
