Tampa, FL, and Conyers, GA – April 4, 2006 – It was a busy two weeks for Over the Hill Farm, which split showing duties between two venues: the Winter Equestrian Festival in Tampa, FL, and the Georgia Horse Park in Conyers, GA, on March 22-April 2, 2006.
Trainer Bill Schaub was in Tampa, where his riders collected multiple tricolor ribbons. In week one, rider Hunt Tosh piloted two horses to wins in the professional hunter divisions.
Cachet, owned by Lee Cesery of Jacksonville, FL, was reserve champion in the Green Conformation Hunters. The talented young horse finished with five second places and one first place. In the Pre-Green 3’3” Hunters, Tosh rode Secrets for owners Bill Schaub and Jimmy Torano. Secrets jumped to a third and two fourths and received a third under saddle for the reserve championship ribbon.
Sophie Read of Lake Mary, FL, rode her own horse Monaco to the reserve champion ribbon in the Children’s 14 & Under Hunters after they picked up two second places, a third place, and a fourth place ribbon. Read also won the Equitation 12-14 under saddle class.
The ponies of Over the Hill Farm continued their winning ways in Tampa as well. Catch rider Schaefer Raposa piloted Magic Rose for Katie Hogan of Tampa, FL to the championship in the Small Pony Hunters. The pair won two classes on their way to the tricolor.
Raposa also rode Anne Gardner’s Kiss the Rain in the Medium Pony Hunters. They also won a class for the tricolor ribbon. She also got the ride on Show Boat, also owned by Gardner, in the Large Green Pony Hunters. They were champion in the first week after winning four out of five classes in the division. Show Boat returned the second week for the reserve championship.
Katie Hogan’s Large Pony Hunter, Hint of Blue, and rider Megan Massaro had two successful weeks at Tampa. They finished as reserve champions in the division each week.
Young Parker Wright made his Small Pony Hunter debut in Tampa after successfully showing in the Short Stirrup Hunters throughout the Ocala Winter Circuit. Wright and Fancy Feet, owned by Bill Schaub, took home ribbons in every class of the larger and more competitive division in both weeks of competition.
In the second week of Tampa, Schaefer Raposa rode Another Beau, owned by Bill Schaub and the JEB Group, to reserve champion honors in the Small/Medium Green Pony Hunters.
Another group of horses and riders competed at two weeks of the Atlanta Spring Classic Horse Shows.
Heartthrob, owned by Lee Cesery, started the spring season out right by capturing the championship in the Pre-Green Hunter division with Daniel Geitner in week one and with Hunt Tosh in week two.
Cesery had a very successful two weeks in Atlanta. She and her new Adult Amateur Hunter, Cachet, won all five classes in their division for the championship in the second week. She also rode What D’Ya Know to the championship in the Amateur-Owner 36 & Over Hunters in the second week. What D’Ya Know led the victory gallop in the Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic both weeks of competition. These victories give Cesery a big head start in points for the World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) standings, as the second week of Atlanta was a WCHR-sanctioned show.
Lee Avera rode her own Love Letter to the reserve championship in the Pre-Adult Hunters in week two of Atlanta.
