Para-Equestrians Prepare For First World Championship
Equestrian News Release
The first World Para-Equestrian Dressage Championship under the governance of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) will be held in Hartpury, England from July 18-22, 2007. As the event marks its debut with the FEI, it is also the first time in 21 years that Great Britain has hosted a World Championship. Hartpury College, will welcome 142 competitors from 22 nations making it the largest Para-Equestrian Dressage Championship ever held.
Leading Para-Equestrian Dressage riders will be present, including Athens Paralympic Gold Medalists’ Lee Pearson and Debbie Criddle (Great Britain), Irene Slaettengren (Sweden), and Ann Cathrin Lubbe (Norway). Also attending are riders from China, Singapore and the Virgin Islands who are competing in the Championship for the first time.
Three days of competition for the World Championship titles will also serve as qualification for the 2008 Paralympic Games in Hong Kong.
FEI President HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein will be present the final medals and officially close the Championship.
