Peter Pletcher Joins New Sponsored Hunter Riders at EquiFit, Inc.

Originally from Houston, TX, Pletcher began riding when he was 12 years old. In his junior years, he trained with Jimmy Lee, among others, and he rode as an amateur with Debbie Stephens, Bernie Traurig and Billy Glass. Pletcher made the decision to become a professional and opened his own PJP Farm in Magnolia, TX, in 1987.

Pletcher has won hunter championships at every major horse show in the country, including the Devon Horse Show and the circuit of indoor final shows. In the jumpers, he piloted Uncle Sam to the win in the President’s Cup Grand Prix in 1991 at the Washington International Horse Show, and he has represented the United States Equestrian Team in international competition.

In 2001, he rode Geste to a perfect score of 100 in a hunter classic. Pletcher won the World Championship Hunter Rider title in 2002 and 2004. He was also honored with the Emerson Burr Trophy from USA Equestrian and was named The Chronicle of the Horse Professional Rider of the Year in 2002.
