Phelps Media Group Sponsors Jennifer Wood in Disney Marathon
Equestrian News Release
Wellington, FL – January 4, 2006- Phelps Media Group, Inc. International, an equestrian related public relations firm based in Wellington, Florida, is proudly sponsoring Jennifer Wood in the Disney marathon on January 8, 2006. The PMG staff will cheer for Wood during the 26 mile marathon, which serpentines throughout the amusement parks of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Wood, a PMG writer and photographer, chose to train and participate in the marathon to help raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
As a member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program, Wood herself raised over $2,510 to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. In honor of all the individuals who are battling blood cancers, Wood has diligently trained since July of 2005 for the upcoming event.
One of PMG’s principal writers, Wood spent months on the road this fall to provide PMG with equestrian coverage. Her dedication to the marathon kept her running through the rain in Spruce Meadows, the streets of Washington, D.C., the shade of New York City’s Central Park, and up the hills of upstate New York.
Wood’s compassion and dedication truly stems from the heart; her father recently finished fighting cancer and is now healthy. “He also used to run marathons,” related Wood, “so this is to support him and everyone else who is fighting this horrible disease.” Now in good health, Wood’s father has been training to run with his daughter during the last few miles of her race.
The Phelps Media Group, Inc. International staff and friends will be on-site at Disney, along Wood’s relatives and boyfriend Mark Ryder. Mason Phelps, President of PMG, is sponsoring Wood, who will wear the company logo throughout the race. In addition to his donation, Phelps purchased PMG hats, t-shirts, and windbreakers for Wood’s supporters to wear on the sidelines.
“We are really proud of Jen,” commented Phelps. “She has worked so hard for this race and for its cause. No one else at PMG can even run a mile, but we can certainly cheer for Jen as she crosses the finish line!”
