Rocky Mountain Horse Expo Expands Western Slope Events
Equestrian News Release
The Rocky Mountain Horse Expo expands the line up for Grand Junction and Durango this fall, broadening the field of clinicians and adding fresh faces to the vendor group. Favorites return, too, to guarantee that both Horse Expos provide all things horse for enthusiasts old, young and in-between, and the Durango Horse Expo will once again run concurrently with the popular Durango Cowboy Gathering.
New to the Expos this year, Karen Scholl will bring her special “Horsemanship for Women” program to both Western Slope events. A horse behaviorist and clinician who has taught psychology-based horsemanship for over 10 years, Karen presents practical information in a format that is non-threatening and humorous, and which relates to common issues in horse relations. Karen explains, “Most clinicians are men who have vast amounts of experience riding difficult or young horses. I find that women appreciate learning from someone who can totally relate to how they feel because she’s been in that situation herself.”
For participants in dressage and eventing, the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo is pleased to introduce clinician Jennifer Nisbet at both events. Jennifer comes to the Expos as a confirmed Grand Prix trainer with several finished Grand Prix horses and successful FEI competitors as students. At Jennifer’s Hillcrest Farm in Fort Collins, Colorado, she trains, teaches and develops an equine rehabilitation program.
And there’s more, lots more, that’s new at the Horse Expos! Sue Schmidt will demonstrate the conditioning benefits for horses and dogs using her water treadmill. Mounted Shooters will put on demonstrations (and in Grand Junction—a competition) sure to delight and amaze. In Durango, the Horse Expo will host a Celebrity Teams Horse Shoe Pitch-Off to benefit Cadence Therapeutic Riding. At both events, the Kent Feeds Stick Horse Rodeo will challenge the bronc-busting skills of the little ones, and CSU’s education program will offer the wide variety of experts visitors have come to expect at the Horse Expo. Both Horse Expos will feature special programs for school-age students; this year CSU will include sessions on the 4-H Horseless Horse program—horse projects for kids without horses.
It’s too much to list here! For more information and updated schedules, visit http://www.RockyMountainHorseExpo.com. For information on the Durango Cowboy Gathering, contact Linda Mannix at http://www.durangocowboygathering.org.
