Fans of the Saddle Club Meet Their Hero at Equine Affaire

Fans of the Saddle Club Meet Their Hero at Equine Affaire
“I was so excited…I was like this is the creator of everything!’

TORONTO – When the Saddle Club production team went to film Bonnie Bryant, author of The Saddle Club, at Equine Affaire in Ohio recently they met a lot fans eager to talk to the writer of the popular books that inspired the TV series. Kids lined up for autographs, books, photos; to bring their personal letters and drawings of horses: “I was so excited. I got all sweaty and I was like this is the creator of everything.”

The books and TV series follow the adventures of Stevie, Carole and Lisa, the three girls who formed the Saddle Club at Pine Hollow Stables. Since the first book, Horse Crazy was published in 1988 kids around the world have enjoyed playing the roles of their favorite characters: “My sister and I like to play Saddle Club…I like to play ‘Stevie’ and she likes to play ‘Carole’ or ‘Lisa’.”

The Saddle Club books have sold more than 16 million copies worldwide and have been re-launched by Random House in North America this year. The TV series, premiered on ABC Television in Australia, YTV in Canada and Discovery Kids in the US. In 2006, the first series – “Girl Power Meets Horse Power” – was launched on public television stations across America through APT Exchange and CPTV (Connecticut Public Television). “The Girls are Growing Up,” the second series will premiere on public television this fall.

To celebrate the launch of the series on public television The Saddle Club Video Journals were introduced. They are included at the end of each live-action dramatic episode and feature real kids – those who ride and kids who just love learning about horses. The Saddle Club Video Journals have been produced in association with The U.S. Equestrian Federation, Inc., The U.S. Pony Clubs, Inc., Equine Affaire Inc., Flying Changing Therapeutic Riding Center and other organizations.

“The Saddle Club has always been about friendship, fun and learning,” said author Bonnie Bryant. “I think the SC Video Journals are a natural extension of the positive messages in the books and the television series.”

“I have the best fans in world, “said Bryant. “I really enjoyed meeting them at Equine Affaire.” Bonnie Bryant is scheduled to appear in the Youth Pavilion at Equine Affaire in Massachusetts (November, 2007).

The Saddle Club is a co-production of Crawford Productions Pty Ltd (Australia) and Protocol Entertainment Inc. (Canada). For a ‘SNEAK PREVIEW’ of The Saddle Club Video Journal, “Bonnie Bryant Visits Equine Affaire,” click on the link below:
