PA Historical and Museum Commission Mounts Smarty Jones/Horse Racing Exhibit
Equestrian News Release
The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission will sponsor Out in Front: Smarty Jones and Horse Racing in Pennsylvania, an exhibit featuring exclusive photographs of Pennsylvania's pride thoroughbred race horse Smarty Jones. The show opens to the public Nov. 16.
With special access pictures of Smarty Jones by museum photographer Don Giles, and others, the show also features the spectacular Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes trophies, the two races of the Triple Crown that Smarty won. A brief history of racing in the Commonwealth and shots of equine beauty and power from across the state are in the exhibit. Excerpts from a new film documentary on Smarty will also be shown.
