U.S. East Coast League Qualifies Seven for 2006 FEI Jumping World Cup Final in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Tampa, FL – March 28, 2006 – Following Sunday’s $75,000 Grand Prix of Tampa, the final qualifier for the U.S. East Coast League, seven riders were briefed in a meeting about the 2006 FEI Jumping World Cup Final, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on April 26 to 30, 2006.

The seven riders that qualified for this year’s World Cup Final are:

1. Margie Engle, Wellington, FL, Quervo Gold, G/12/BWP, Wyndhurst Stables and Hidden Creek’s Alibi, G/12/Holsteiner, Hidden Creek Farm

2. Laura Kraut, Oconomowoc, WI, Anthem, G/15/KWPN, Summit Syndicate

3. Molly Ashe, Wellington, FL, Kroon Gravin, M/14/KWPN and Neuville, G/12/German Warmblood, Jane F. Clark

4. McLain Ward, Brewster, NY, Goldika 559, M/14/Holsteiner, Double H Farm

5. Kent Farrington, Greenwich, CT, Madison, M/10/KWPN, Alexa Weeks

6. Beezie Madden, Cazenovia, NY, Judgement, S/15/KWPN, Iron Spring Farm

7. Alison Firestone, Upperville, VA, Secret Love, G/11/Belgian Warmblood, Bertram and Diana Firestone

Christine McCrea of East Windsor, CT, and Chris Kappler of Pittstown, NJ, were tied for seventh place, but both riders elected not to attend the Final.

Riders are allowed to bring two horses to the competition, so the final horse for some riders is yet to be determined.

The horses and riders will be joined at the World Cup Final by Chef d’Equipe George Morris and the USEF Managing of Show Jumping Director Sally Ike.

Chef d’Equipe George Morris thanked many of the riders for their sportsmanship and willingness to represent their country at the event.

With many of the riders going to the World Cup Final and two tours for the Samsung Super League, many logistical plans must be made for the travel of the horses, riders, and grooms. This was a main focus of the meeting.

The horses traveling to the World Cup Final will stay over in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, for a short time before continuing their trek to Malaysia.
