IT’S RAINING MEN…Blackwater Parachute Team To Jump at Virginia Gold Cup

WARRENTON, VA -- The Virginia Gold Cup Association announced today that the Blackwater Parachute Team will demonstrate their spectacular jumping formations at the upcoming Virginia Gold Cup on Saturday, May 6 at 12:30 p.m.
“We are so honored to have the Blackwater Parachute Team participate at this year’s Virginia Gold Cup,” states William Allison, race chairman of the 81st Anniversary of the Virginia Gold Cup Races.
The Blackwater Parachute Team consists of five men who are current and former world champions and world record holders in formation skydiving and canopy formation parachuting. Collectively, the team has completed over 36,000 parachute jumps, which makes them the most experienced parachute demonstration team in the world. A typical jump consists of five men leaping out of an aircraft at an altitude of 12,500 feet. During free fall, jumpers reach speeds of 120 miles per hour and can accelerate up to 180 miles per hour.
With all of the horses on site, there has been a question as to whether the parachute team will conflict with the horses. “We’ve been very careful to make sure that the parachute team will jump in advance of the horses getting anywhere near the field,” explains Allison.
After the Gold Cup performance, the Blackwater Parachute Team will be available to answer questions about their company and to sign autographs.

The 81st Anniversary of the Virginia Gold Cup will take place on Saturday, May 6 at Great Meadow in The Plains, Virginia. Gates open at 10 am for pre-race entertainment. The Blackwater Parachute Team will jump at 12:30 p.m. and the first race gets underway at 1 p.m. Tickets are $75 per car in advance, $85 per car on the week of the race (allows entry of car and 6 occupants).
