Julie Welles Wins Her 20th USEF Show Jumping Talent Search at WEF
Equestrian News Release
Wellington, FL - February 7, 2006 - Julie Welles, who rides with Missy Clark and John Brennan of North Run stables, won her 20th USEF Show Jumping Talent Search class at the Winter Equestrian Festival the first week.
Welles, who works now full time for North Run, recently turned professional after she turned 18 and could no longer show as a junior, She rode Hannah Goodson Cutt's Sienna in section "A" of the USEF class, although the horse typically does the hunters.
The win earned her a gold medal, having won 20 USEF classes, which is the cut-off number for competition.
This is Julie Welles first year riding as a professional for North Run and she is already bringing home the blues. "Riding as a professional is a lot different at the Winter Equestrian Festival, I'm done before the weekend.
I'm so used to having the junior jumpers, junior hunters and junior equitation at the end of the week, and now I just flat the horses and help out with North RunI. It's a really big change, and I like it. I've been showing some of Missy's horses in the jumpers and getting to know them a little better because they're new horses. Hopefully, if all goes well, we'll keep moving up. I'm looking forward to it."
