Winter Equestrian Festival Announces Heidi S. Birath as Official Poster Artist for Nations’ Cup

Wellington, FL – February 7, 2006 – The Winter Equestrian Festival, held at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club in Wellington, Florida from January 25-March 19, 2006, is proud to host the $75,000 Nations’ Cup CSIO 5* presented by CN. The class begins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10th and will be held in the Internationale Arena. Stadium Jumping, Inc., the Winter Equestrian Festival’s management, is pleased to announce Heidi S. Birath as the “Official Artist” for the competition poster.

Birath specializes in graphite portraits and will design the Nations’ Cup poster, which will be available for purchase on March 1st. The original will be on display in The Jockey Club at the Winter Equestrian Festival show grounds and will be auctioned off on the evening of March 9th at the Nations’ Cup Calcutta. Invitations for the Calcutta, held at the International Polo Club, are available through Stadium Jumping, Inc.

“Heidi Birath exhibited artwork in ‘The Horse: In and Out’ gallery at the National Horse Show [and Family Festival],” commented Elizabeth Hedley, one of the coordinators for the Nations’ Cup CSIO 5*. “We were impressed with her work and selected her as the ‘Official Artist’ for the Nations’ Cup. We’re very pleased to have her artwork featured on the poster; she is very talented.”

Heidi S. Birath grew up in Weston, MA and has shown horses since she was a child. Along with her interest in riding, Birath enjoyed sketching horses and barns when she was young. The artist, who received her first commission while in high school, relocated to Wellington, Florida, where she pursued her studies in art at Florida Atlantic University. In addition, Birath spent a year in Florence, Italy to study art, art history, and the renaissance masters.

Birath has an extensive collection of equestrian artwork that includes portraits of show horses and polo ponies. She also has a variety of Italian artwork available. The artist has prints available for purchase and also offers commissioned work.
