THE PREMIER MAGAZINE FOR YOUNG HORSE AND PONY LOVERS TAKES AWARD FOR OVERALL PUBLICATION OF THE YEAR
IRVINE, CA, January 21, 2008 – Each year, the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), the national governing body for equestrian sport, presents its Pegasus Awards to honor outstanding media coverage of equestrian sports and related issues in the United States. Young Rider magazine, the preeminent publication for young equestrians, was honored by the USEF with the Pegasus for 2007’s Overall Publication of the Year.
“It’s wonderful that the USEF recognizes the importance of young people within the horse industry,” said Young Rider Editor-in-Chief Lesley Ward. “Young Rider’s always believed in the importance of encouraging children to ride in their youth, so that they’ll continue riding through adulthood.”
Both Ward and Horse Illustrated Editor Elizabeth Moyer attended the USEF’s annual meeting on January 10th in Lousiville, Kentucky. Presenting the Pegasus to Young Rider for Overall Publication of the Year was USEF President David O’Connor.
“Among the many there was a list of standouts, but in the end we found that Young Rider struck that perfect balance of matching editorial content and design with its intended target audience,” said O’Connor. “This publication devotes itself to the educating and exciting young riders across breeds and disciplines. With its bright and sharp approach to production, it serves its readers with bi-monthly issues that inspire and inform them, plus their trademark pull-out posters adorn the bedroom walls of young horse lovers across the country. This publication knows its audience and meets its needs, anticipates its wants and delivers on them consistently.”
