About the Artist & the Painting
Joseph Criscuoli first picked up a paintbrush in 1979 and earned a degree in Advertising Design from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1982. Since that time he has been employed in the business side of the world of art and is currently Vice President for Marketing & Public Relations with EPI-Colorspace, a full-service marketing communications firm.
In 2003, Criscuoli completed his first equine portrait, “No Laughing Matter,” which captures America’s best-loved long shot, and a most memorable event in horseracing from 2003, as Funny Cide, with Jose Santos up, approaches the finish line at Churchill Downs.
