The 122nd National Horse Show & Family Festival Celebrates a Variety of Talents

Wellington, FL- November 21- The 122nd National Horse Show & Family Festival will be held at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club in Wellington, FL, from November 30 through December 4, 2005. An equestrian tradition since 1883, this event showcases top hunter, jumper, and dressage competitors at their highest levels. Along with some of the nation’s top horses and riders, this competition introduces rare and unusual breeds in their special horse exhibitions.

On Friday, December 2, one of the most appealing exhibitions to equestrian lovers at the National Horse Show will begin at 6:30 p.m. Shaana Pritchard-Risley and the Frieze Frame Friesians, a freestyle dressage team of up to ten beautiful black Friesian stallions, will perform quadrille tests in costume for their fourth year at the National Horse Show. They include Friesians from Dutch, German, and American registries, and represent some of the best Friesian stallions in the country.

In addition, Victoria McCullough of Chesapeake Petroleum, sponsor of Friday evening’s

$100,000 Lexus National Horse Show Grand Prix, is organizing a Miniature Horse Parade to help celebrate the return of the National Horse Show to Wellington.

McCullough has also arranged for the Gypsy Vanner Horses to attend the National Horse Show. The Gypsy Vanner Horses were born from the Gypsies' vision to create the perfect caravan horse, or "Vanner". The breed of the Gypsy Vanner Horse, preserved for thousands of years, reflects upon the European history of the Gypsies and honors their unique and elegant equine lineage.

“The National Horse Show is all about presenting horses and making them available to those who don’t normally get to see them,” commented McCullough. “Mr. Mische has done a wonderful job of taking this show in a new direction. The Children’s Fair opens the show to the community, and I think it’s a great way to give back.”

Beginning at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, the Wellington Show Stables Drill Team will put on a special routine for spectators. Performing in the Internationale Arena, the group will consist of students from the riding school who will perform on borrowed school horses and are thrilled to be at the National Horse Show.

Katharine Priegues, an eleven year old from Bak Middle School of the Arts, will launch the afternoon equine activities by playing the National Anthem on her violin. The 6th grader has played the violin for four years and is also a rider herself. When not playing in her school orchestra or practicing Irish Fiddle Music, Priegues enjoys riding her horse Hidalgo in the disciplines of dressage and cross-country.
