124th National Horse Show and Family Festival Features "Dancing With the Equestrian Stars"

Wellington, FL - November 30, 2007 - On Friday, Dec. 7, the 124th National Horse Show and Family Festival will host the after party themed "Dancing With the Equestrian Stars." Held in the Special Events Tent, the after party welcomes horse show exhibitors, sponsors, and VIP table holders. The 124th National Horse Show and Family Festival is scheduled for Dec.5-9, 2007, at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club in Wellington, FL.

Hosted by Equine Motorcoach, sponsors of "Dancing With the Equestrian Stars" include: Lehel Coach Builders, Volvo Trucks of North America, Cummins Onan Generators, Kentuckiana's Premier Truck Center, wine by Chateau Chevalier, vodka by XELLENT(R), and beer by Alltech.

The soiree is scheduled to follow the "Jumping Under the Stars" Gala in the Diamond Horseshoe Club, held during the first phase of the Rolex/USEF National Show Jumping Championship presented by Equine Motorcoach. Doors will open for the "Dancing With the Equestrian Stars" after party at 9:30 p.m.

At the festivity, professional dancers will perform competition-style with equestrians. The pairs will perform such ballroom dances as the fox trot, tango, and waltz for a panel of judges, which includes Gene Mische, founder of Stadium Jumping, Inc. and the Winter Equestrian Festival; Jane Clark, president and CFO of the USET Foundation; and John Y. G. Walker III, treasurer of the National Horse Show. Judges will score equestrian stars on a scale from 1 to 10, and a dance-off will be held in the event of a tie.

The first dance of the night will be performed by Betty Jane Henry, who has served on the NHS Board of Directors and on the Ladies Committee longer than any other member.

Following Henry's dance, other contestants will compete with professionals from the studio Dance Connection of Palm Beach.

Mason Phelps Jr., chairman of the board of the National Horse Show Association of America Ltd, will emcee the occasion, and Equine Motorcoach's Julie Calazone will present the awards. After the competition, guests are welcomed to dance the night away, enjoying great music and cocktails.

"I look forward to working with this panel of judges," states Mason Phelps Jr., founder of Phelps Media Group, Inc. "They are all personal friends of mine. Additionally, the night should be full of lots of surprises and laughs."

The night will be filmed by a videographer and posted on the Sun-Sentinel's Web site, http://www.sun-sentinel.com.

In addition to Betty Jane Henry, notables who have confirmed their participation in this event are grand prix dressage riders Lynda Alicki and Bent Jensen and show jumpers Lauren Hough and Tim Boulton. Two more openings are currently available for equestrian stars.

Alicki won a team Gold Medal at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada, and she earned a team Gold Medal aboard Gino at CDIO Hickstead in England in 1997. In addition, she finished fourth overall in the USET Grand Prix Championship, held at the 1997 Bayer/USET Festival of Champions. Also in 1997, Alicki won the USET Grand Prix qualifier and Grand Prix Special at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby and the Grand Prix Qualifier and Freestyle at CDI-W Raleigh.

Jensen competed as an Olympian on the Danish Team in Barcelona, was two-time Danish National Champion Rider of the Year in Dressage, and has made his mark in the U.S. Grand Prix Dressage world with a string of successes in CDI's from New England to Florida. He has competed with such highly acclaimed horses as Ariston, Oliver Twist, Pilota, and Alexander.

Tim Boulton, owner and manager of La Peche Catering, has shown in both the hunter and jumper arenas at the Winter Equestrian Festival and other prestigious, nationally ranked competitions. La Peche Catering provides provisions for the Diamond Horseshoe Club at the National Horse Show and Family Festival.

Lauren Hough is one of the most celebrated grand prix show jumpers in the country. She represented the United States at the 2000 Sydney Olympics with her mount Clasiko, and she also won the team Gold Medal in the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo on Windy City. She has successfully participated in the World Cup Finals in Leipzig, Germany (2002), Las Vegas, Nevada (2005), and Las Vegas, Nevada (2007). Hough finished fourth in the 2006 World Equestrian Games Selection Trials, and she continues to represent the United States in international competitions.

Invitation for "Dancing With the Equestrian Stars" are available at the Equine Motorcoach vendor booth on the Great Lawn or in the Phelps Media Group, Inc. office.
