Wednesday 2007 Kentucky Derby Photos

Wednesday morning before the Kentucky Derby saw many of the horses on the track to stretch their legs. Although I was not able to get a photo credential this year, I was able to join Jane Dempsey's Kentucky Derby Junket group to tour the backside and catch some of the morning works plus Amber Chalfin and Patty Yount were nice enough to give me a few additional photos to use.

Here are 13 of the Kentucky Derby horses plus 6 Oaks fillies with comments on what they did.

Exciting Moments From the Kentucky Derby:

Dominican jogged a mile, and then quickened his pace to gallop a mile and a quarter over the fast main track.

Great Hunter went to the track after the renovation break with exercise rider Tony Romero aboard, he schooled in the paddock, jogged three-quarters of a mile and galloped 1 1/2 miles.

Hard Spun the son of Danzig schooled in the paddock for 10 minutes, and then went on the track to gallop a mile and three-eighths with trainer Larry Jones aboard.

Imawildandcrazyguy galloped a mile and a half at Churchill Downs on Wednesday morning.

Liquidity on Tuesday morning schooled in the paddock and jogged about a mile and galloping about 1 miles.

Stormello was out for a mile-and-a-half gallop Wednesday morning under exercise rider Michelle Nevin. "He went just fine," said trainer Bill Currin. "He wasn't blowing at all after the gallop, and he was hardly wet."

Storm in May galloped a mile and a half at Churchill Downs on Wednesday morning.

Street Sense breezed five furlongs in 1:01 on Tuesday morning.

Teuflesberg had a one-mile gallop on Wednesday morning before the renovation break.

Tiago, a half-brother to 2005 Derby upsetter Giacomo, returned to the racetrack for a second morning at 7:45 after his flight from Los Angeles accompanied by trainer John Shirreffs.

Any Given Saturday had his final work on Sunday at Keeneland with Angel Cordero aboard going 5 furlongs in 1:01 1/5.

Circular Quay worked in company with Kentucky Oaks favorite Rags to Riches again with Cordero aboard on Sunday at Keeneland, going 1:00 1/5 for 5 furlongs.

Scat Daddy also went out Sunday at Keeneland with Cordero aboard and went a speedy 59 2/5 for 5 furlongs, the best of all the Pletcher horses.

-Oaks Fillies-

Cash Included on Wednesday morning was out shortly after the rennovation break.

Cotton Blossom on Wednesday morning was out before the rennovation break.

Dawn After Dawn was out on Wednesday morning before the break.

Dreaming of Anna on the track Tuesday morning.

High Heels on the track Tuesday morning.
