The Teens to Beat During the 2007 Vermont Summer Festival

Vt. Trainer Missy Clark & North Run’s Young Riders are the Teens to Beat in Grand Prix Arena During 2007 Vermont Summer Festival

Warren, VT — July 11, 2007 – North Run trainer Missy Clark of Warren, Vt. trains the riders to beat in the Jumper Division at this year’s six-week Vermont Summer Festival, held July 11 to August 19, 2007, in East Dorset, VT.

Last year during the Vermont Summer Festival, North Run’s riders Julie Welles and Lou Dobbs’ daughter Hillary dominated the Junior Jumper divisions. Now at 19, they are both entering the Grand Prix arena to compete against some of the best show jumping riders in the world. Under Clark’s guidance, both Welles and Dobbs have been consistently in the ribbons in Grand Prix events at Lake Placid, HITS and the St. Clement’s Horse Shows with Dobbs winning four Grand Prix in a month. During their stay in Vermont, these two young equestrians will be competing for top honors during the first three weeks of the show.

New England’s largest “AA” rated hunter/jumper horse show, the Vermont Summer Festival offers over $700,000 in prize money, making it the richest sporting event in the state of Vermont. Each week of competition features a $10,000 Friday Open Welcome Stake, sponsored by Manchester Designer Outlets, and, for the first five weeks of competition, a $30,000 Sunday Grand Prix. The 2007 Vermont Summer Festival closes with the grand finale, the $50,000 Vermont Summer Celebration Grand Prix on Sunday, August 19. Each of the six weeks also features a $10,000 Show Jumping Hall Of Fame High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper class, part of the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series, and is also a member event of the Marshall & Sterling League and the North American League.

Spectators are welcome to enjoy the exciting competitions each week free of charge. There is food and parking available daily.
