Preparations for the 2007 Winter Equestrian Festival Continue

Wellington, FL – December 21, 2006 – Despite the current EHV outbreak in South Florida, work continues in preparation for the 2007 Winter Equestrian Festival scheduled to begin on January 24, 2007, at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club in Wellington, Florida. This year’s festival, the nation’s longest and consecutively running equestrian sporting event, celebrates its 35th year in Florida, and will offer more than $4 million dollars in prize money.

“We’re obviously very aware of the on-going EHV situation in Wellington. Everyone that works for Stadium Jumping is very concerned about the health and welfare of our equine population, and we are working closely with the team of local veterinarians, the State Department of Agriculture, and all of the professionals that are dealing with this issue. We monitor their efforts on an hour by hour basis,” said Eugene R. Mische, President of Stadium Jumping, Inc. “We’re also very confident that this crisis will be over soon, and with that in mind, we’re preparing for the 2007 show season to begin as scheduled.”

Finishing touches are being put on the show grounds, the installation of the temporary stabling and tents is almost complete, and the horse show office is open for business on a daily basis. The newly constructed FEI area for show jumpers is nearing completion, including a brand new RISO ring, exclusively for the use of those horses.

Exhibitors planning to compete at this year’s Winter Equestrian Festival should closely monitor the situation as well.

“We are not telling you to come down here now,” said Mische. “What we are saying is that as soon as the all clear is given by the local authorities, and this emergency has been contained, we will be ready for you. We’re looking forward to a great 2007 show season.”
