AAEP Healthy Horses Workshop to Feature World-Renowned Trainer Monty Roberts

The American Association of Equine Practitioners’ Healthy Horses Workshop, an event designed for non-veterinarians interested in equine health care and offering the latest news and advances in horse health, will be held Saturday, July 26 in Austin, Texas.

Now in its ninth year, the event will address horse health topics that are important to the horse owner, as well as feature a special seminar by world-renowned trainer Monty Roberts.

Strategies for Equine Strangles: Management and Prevention: Amanda House, DVM, DACVIM

Crooked Legs, Belly Buttons and Common Surgical Issues: Justin Harper, DVM

Rhodococcus equi Pneumonia in Foals: An Update on Epidemiology, Diagnosis, Treatment & Prevention: Robert Franklin, DVM, DACIM

Roberts’ presentation, “Being Around Horses,” will give attendees a look into his past experiences and amazing accomplishments during a lifetime of being in the presence of the horse.

The Healthy Horses Workshop will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Hilton Austin Hotel. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The pre-registration fee through July 3 is $70; on-site registration is $85. Lunch is included with the cost of registration. Seating is limited and on-site registration will be offered based on space availability. The Healthy Horses Workshop is made possible in part through the generous support of the AAEP’s Educational and Media partners.

The American Association of Equine Practitioners, headquartered in Lexington, Ky., was founded in 1954 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the health and welfare of the horse. Currently, the AAEP reaches more than 5 million horse owners through its over 9,000 members worldwide and is actively involved in ethics issues, practice management, research and continuing education in the equine veterinary profession and horse industry.
