Abby Whitaker Receives NRBC Media Award
Equestrian News Release
The National Reining Breeders Classic has announced that Abby Whitaker, of Byars, Oklahoma, is the recipient of the 2006 NRBC Media Award.
Since its inception in 2000, the National Reining Breeders Classic Media Award has gone to media individuals and entities that exhibit excellence in covering the reining industry's highest added money event and the award has become one of the most prestigious honors of its type in the western equine industry. In 2006, the designation goes to an individual who has worked internally and externally to support the NRBC.
Whitaker, formerly with Cowboy Publishing, now works for Byars, Oklahoma-based Pro Management. Originally from Indiana, she is a Journalism graduate of Southwestern Adventist University.
"Abby Whitaker has supported the National Reining Breeders Classic, coverage-wise, since its beginning," stated NRBC Secretary/Treasurer, Cheryl Magoteaux. "Champions, board members and staff have been interviewed and profiled by Abby. Then, she came on board with Pro Management to generate countless press releases, promotional and publicity materials and she’s got that great ability to work under the pressure of deadlines in spite of all the show activity going on around her. Besides that, she’s written the NRBC announcer’s script, supplying the interesting and biographical information on the finalists and top riders."
As the Media Award recipient, Whitaker will receive the signature Aysha Hoffman framed print that has become the hallmark of the award and it will be presented during the National Reining Breeders Classic, April 16-22 at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas.
Past NRBC Media award winners are Lee Schneider in 2006, Jim Campbell and Horseman’s Radio Weekly and Bridle and Bit in 2005, Reiner Magazine in 2004, Southwest Horse Trader in 2003, America's Horse and ANCR Reiner in 2002, Barb & Dick Waltenberry in 2001 and Quarter Horse News in 2000.
The National Reining Breeders Classic is the most successful stallion incentive program in reining history. In just nine years, the NRBC has grown to include over 300 subscribed stallions. For information on the NRBC, visit the web site at http://www.nrbc.com or call 580-759-3939.
