Alexandra Thornton Wins Tenth Championship for Dunwalke at Winter Equestrian Festival

Wellington, FL – March 21, 2007 – This past week, Alexandra Thornton hit a perfect ten at the CN Worldwide Wellington Finale CSI 5* as she captured the tenth championship award for her farm at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF). Her show barn, Dunwalke, is located in Bedminster, NJ, and the 13-year-old rider has consistently topped the leader board with her horses throughout the WEF circuit. Thornton trains with Susie Humes, who is a top trainer and judge in the equestrian industry.

Competing with her junior hunters, Thornton has won a championship ribbon almost every week at WEF, and last week was no different. She and Tobasco, her chestnut gelding, earned three blue ribbons and a third place in the Small Junior 15 and Under Hunters, which tallied up for the division championship. This is the seventh championship ribbon for the pair this season, and they hope to continue their winning streak at their next competition, the Tampa Bay Classic.

Last year the duo won numerous championships in the Children’s Hunter division and spent time in the winner’s circle again after they received the overall WEF circuit championship at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL. With their continuing reign of success in the junior hunters, they hope to take home the overall circuit tricolor once again.

In the Large Junior 15 and Under Hunters, Thornton received top placings for her efforts aboard High Noon and For The Music. In addition, she came away with ribbons in the Children’s Jumper 13 and Under division with her jumper Saint Exupery. The young rider recently started showing in the equitation division with her horse Samson and in the Modified Children’s Jumpers with Naomi.

Humes commented, “We had a nice winter at the Wellington series this year, with Alexandra really becoming comfortable in the Junior Hunters and in the Children’s Jumpers. She won more than twenty blue ribbons, which is pretty terrific. But, more importantly, she has solidified her partnerships with High Noon, Tobasco and For The Music. We are now looking forward to the challenge of the equitation and improving some style issues and beginning in the the Junior Jumpers.”

She added, “As always, the credit for this kind of success goes to the team as a whole: Phil Kiley and the great barn staff that he has assembled, the genius and expertise of Charlie Weaver and, of course, the guiding hand of ‘the Master’ George Morris.”

As the Winter Equestrian Festival relocates to the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center in Tampa, FL, the horses of Dunwalke will compete next at the Tampa Bay Classic, which will run from March 28-April 1, 2007.
