Alexis Merizwa Collects Adult Amateur Hunter Championship and Win in $1,000 Churchill Adult Hunter Classic

Buffalo, NY - September 19, 2008 - Today continues as the third day of competition at the AA rated Buffalo International Horse Show. One of the oldest horse shows in the country, the Buffalo International Horse Show has over 62 years of production and has established deep tradition within the show community.

Another important aspect of the Buffalo International Horse Show is its dedication to raising funds for the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center. All proceeds from the horse show will benefit the organization.

In the hunters, today's star was Alexis Merizwa and mount Magnolia, owned by Jen Burger's Bright Star 158 LLC. The competition was tough, but Merizwa captured the champion award in the Adult Amateur Hunters.

Following her championship award in the Adult Amateur Hunters, the pair also beat the competition to win the blue ribbon in the $1,000 Churchill Adult Hunter Classic.

"Magnolia is a treat to ride. Jen Burger and Jennifer Alfano were really nice to give me the ride. It is the first time I have had the opportunity to show this mare," said Merizwa. "She is only a first year horse so for her to take such good care of me as an amateur - how lucky and fortunate I am. She is easy to ride and never looks at anything."

The Amateur Owner Hunters proved to be no problem for Meredith Lipke Bartolone and her horse Once and Again. Bartolone and Once and Again did what they do best-win. The pair picked up the honor of Amateur Owner Hunter Champion.

"I am very fortune to have a wonderfully seasoned veteran. This horse show is great preparation for Harrisburg and all the other indoor shows," said Bartolone. "Jennifer Alfano has done a great job of preparing me and my horses."

The Buffalo International Horse Show will continue tomorrow with its fourth day of competition. A full schedule of classes is planned, including the $5,000 Up The Creek Pony Hunter Classic, $2,500 GG Valentine Handy Hunter Classic and the $2,500 M & T Bank Children's/Adult Jumper Classic. All classics are scheduled not to start before 6:00 p.m.
