Allwyn Court Celebrates Championships at Littlewood Spring Circuit

Allwyn Court Celebrates Championships at Littlewood Spring Circuit
Wellington, FL – April 10, 2007 – This past week, Allwyn Court competed at the Zada Enterprises LLC Littlewood Spring Circuit and won two division championships. The Wellington-based show stable is owned by Kathy and Gerry Newman, and their daughter Katherine enjoys competing with horses at their farm and catch-riding additional mounts at shows.

After winning four over fences classes in the Large Junior Hunters, 16-year-old Newman received the division championship aboard her catch-ride Nairobi. The pair was also fourth in the under saddle, and they won the reserve championship the previous week in the same division. She showed Nairobi for Nora and Morgan Thomas and owner Kimberly Wang. In addition to the junior hunter, Newman catch-rode an equitation horse named Redwood for Holly Hill Farm. “Redwood was really fun and easy to ride,” reported Newman. “I won the Pessoa USEF Medal and ASPCA Maclay with him, and I’m definitely glad I got the opportunity to show him.”

In the High Junior Jumpers on Friday, Newman and her mount Costa Sur were awarded second place, and the duo galloped for third in the victory gallop for the Junior Jumper Classic on Saturday.

Christina Firestone, who trains at Allwyn Court, piloted Farnley Byron to three seconds and a third in the Small Pony Hunters on Friday. The following day, they won both over fences and were presented the division championship. “It was Christina’s first champion in small ponies,” smiled Gerry Newman. “She rode really well, and it was nice that she was rewarded for doing a great job.”

Allwyn Court’s Tracey Topping also won ribbons on Espoir du Fief III in the Adult Amateur Hunters. Espoir du Fief 111, who was showing in the jumper ring, successfully made the switch from jumpers to hunters this season.

In 2007, Allwyn Court will compete at shows in Lexington, KY, Devon, PA, Upperville, VA, Lake Placid, NY, Vermont, Lexington, VA, and Southampton, NY.
