Allwyn Court Excels for Top Ribbons at Kentucky Spring Horse Shows

Wellington, FL - May 23, 2007 - Over the past two weeks, Allwyn Court amassed countless ribbons at the Kentucky Spring Horse Shows in Lexington, KY. Allwyn Court is a show stable based in Wellington, FL, that is owned and managed by Kathy and Gerry Newman and their 16-year-old daughter Katherine.

At the Kentucky Horse Park, Katherine Newman rode Costa Sur in the High Junior Jumpers. The pair pinned third in the classic the first week. The following week, they won a second place and took fourth in the classic.

"Costa Sur was really good the past two weeks," said Newman. "I think I am finally getting to really know him, and I'm getting really confident on him. I think this weekend was my best show on him so far. I experimented with him a little bit, just small details on how I rode him in the ring. Costa Sur has a very manly barn name - Sugar," she laughed. "Sugar was really good to me in every round. He tried his hardest and was on his job every time. The courses were not too difficult, but hard enough. They weren't overwhelming, but I think they helped prepare me for Devon."

In addition, Newman catch-rode Shiraz to the championship in the Small Junior 16-17 Hunters the first week, and she earned the reserve tricolor with Day Dream. Shiraz, owned by Katherine Llop, won two firsts and three seconds, and Mimi Abel-Smith's Day Dream finished with a first, two seconds, and two fifths. During the second week of competition at Kentucky, Newman and Day Dream moved up for the championship after they won two firsts and three second place ribbons.

In the Large Junior 16-17 Hunters, she guided Clementine Goutal's horse Due North to championship honors both weeks at the Kentucky Spring Horse Shows. Newman earned high placings with Nairobi, a mount she rode for Nora and Morgan Thomas that is owned by Kimberly Wang.

The young rider also showed Titleist, owned by Manhattan Mortgage, in the Children's Unrestricted division, and they were second, third, and fifth.

The horses at Allwyn Court will compete next at the Devon Horse Show in Devon, PA, and will continue on to the Upperville Colt and Horse Show and the Lake Placid Horse Shows in New York.
