Allwyn Court's Katherine Newman Rides for Double Tricolors at Kentucky Summer Classic

Lexington, KY - August 13, 2008 - Katherine Newman of Allwyn Court Farm earned two more tricolors this past week at the Kentucky Summer Classic, held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Seventeen-year-old Newman, who resides in Wellington, FL, trains with her parents, Kathy and Gerry. An experienced catch-rider, Newman often shows horses for other riders and trainers.

This past week, she showed Lifetime Guarantee for owner Robert Cole. Before attending the show in Kentucky, she won two championships and one reserve with Lifetime Guarantee at Horse Shows by the Bay in Traverse City, Michigan. Her winning ways continued in Kentucky, and she came away with the reserve championship in the Small Junior 16-17 Hunter division.

"The first day, Lifetime Guarantee won third place in both over fences classes," commented Newman. "On the second day, he was second in the hack, second in the first class, and third in the handy hunter. I'm really pleased with how he went."

In addition, she rode All The Answers in the Large Junior 16-17 Hunters for Sherri Crawford. All The Answers, who also won a championship with Newman at Horse Shows by the Bay, mirrored Lifetime Guarantee's performance and took home the reserve tricolor.

"All the Answers has been really consistent," stated Newman. "He was second in the first over fences class. He was also second in the over fences, third in the handy hunter, and sixth in the hack. I've really enjoyed showing these horses in the junior hunters, and I'm thankful I got the rides on them."

She also catch-rode a horse named Cassino in the WIHS Equitation class. Cassino is owned by Ashley Gugino. Newman earned fourth place in the WIHS Jumper Phase and finished fourth overall. "I had never shown Cassino before, and it was his first time ever doing the equitation. He usually shows in the Adult Jumpers," she explained. "For his first time, he went very, very well. He really started to figure it out."

Katherine Newman will continue to compete this summer and will attend the indoor horse shows and equitation finals later in the year.
