Appaloosa Horse Club Announces 2007 Race Champions

MOSCOW, Idaho—The Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) is proud to announce the most successful Appaloosas on the racetrack from 2007.

The top honor was bestowed to Jess Streakin. The 3-year-old filly earned Appaloosa Horse of the Year after an astounding win in the Talimena Handicap. Jess Streakin is by Feature Mr Jess (AQHA) and out of Perfect Intention. The Supreme Champion 3-year-old and Older and Champion 3-year-old Sprint Filly titles were also awarded to Jess Streakin. The Oklahoma-bred Appaloosa earned $45,664 in 2007, bringing her lifetime totals to $47,960. This racing wonder is proudly owned and was bred by Jeff Adams of Durant, Oklahoma, and trained by Tina Seely.

Blue Oyster Cult, a 2-year-old Appaloosa colt, earned more than race wins and big money purses for 2007. After earning $33,091 in his first year of racing, the Wyoming-bred stallion was named the Supreme Champion 2-year-old and Champion 2-year-old Sprint Colt. Blue Oyster Cult is by Royal Shake Em (AQHA) and out of Tis A Little Food. Blue Oyster Cult is proudly owned and was bred by John McBride of Kaysville, Utah, and trained by Dee Keener.

The following Appaloosas earned prestigious titles for their racing prowess in 2007:

· R MS Kitty named Champion 2-year-old Sprint Filly

· A Day Before named Champion 2-year-old Sprint Gelding

· Texas Royal Snow named Champion 3-year-old Sprint Gelding

· TMA Moonshine named Champion 4-year-old Sprint Colt

· You Are My Sunshine named Champion 4-year-old & Older Mare

· Tincys Roll of Cash named Champion 4-year-old & Older Gelding and Champion Claiming Horse

Not only Appaloosas are honored for their contributions to racing, the ApHC is proud to announce the Leading Breeder, Leading Owner, Leading Trainer and Leading Jockey of 2007.

Bosen Land & Livestock of Preston, Idaho was named the Leading Breeder. Bosen Land & Livestock is the proud breeder of racing horses, including Appaloosa gelding, Cmb a Legacy. Appaloosa racing stallion, Takin the Cash, is currently standing at Bosen Land & Livestock.

Jeff Adams of Durant, Okla. was named the Leading Owner. The Oklahoman earned the honor thanks to his Appaloosas winning multiple races and earning large purses. Adams owns Appaloosa Horse of the Year, Jess Streakin, Champion 2-year-old Sprint Filly, R MS Kitty, Champion 4-year-old & Older, You Are My Sunshine, and a slew of other successful Appaloosas.

Dub Seely of Sallisaw, Okla. was named the Leading Trainer of 2007. Bryan Ernst was named the Leading Jockey of 2007.

Congratulations to all the Appaloosas, owners, breeders, trainers and jockeys in Appaloosa racing. The ApHC is looking forward to another exciting race year in 2008!

Appaloosa Racing

Appaloosas have long been an integral part of one of America’s most popular spectator sports—horse racing. The Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) officially recognized the sport in 1962, beginning Appaloosa racing history with four races and 23 starters competing for $12,000 in total purses. In 2006, 203 starters competed in 440 races for $2,904,774 in total purses. Racing fans can find Appaloosas crossing the finish line in Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Washington and Wyoming.
