Appaloosa Horse Club Looks Forward to an Exciting Year in 2008

MOSCOW, Idaho—Every new year prompts businesses and organizations to consider the old adage, “Out with the old and in with the new”, and there are certainly a plethora of new happenings for the Appaloosa Horse Club in 2008!

Jan. 1 marked the beginning of a new membership benefits plan, the Appaloosa Advantage Program. The ApHC and National Thoroughbred Racing Association collaborated to offer amazing discounts from major retailers, such as John Deere and Dodge, to ApHC members for free! Details regarding this exciting program can be found the ApHC’s official Web site, http://www.appaloosa.com.

Along with new membership perks, the winds of change bring a new location for one of the most anticipated annual ApHC events—the 61st National Appaloosa Show and 2008 World Championship Appaloosa Youth Show! Appaloosa owners, exhibitors, breeders and aficionados will gather at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson, Miss. to watch the world’s most colorful breed compete in a variety of compelling events. Mark your calendars and clear your schedules to spend June 23-July 6, 2008 at the National Appaloosa Show in Jackson, Mississippi!

The 61st National Appaloosa Show and the 2008 World Championship Appaloosa Youth Show promises to be even more entertaining as several “big money” classes will be added to this year’s schedule. Six new Appaloosa slot classes will add an element of excitement and prestige to the show. Slots are available for purchase in three futurity and three sweepstakes classes—all offering big money! There are a handful of slots still available, though interested parties are encouraged to act fast. Slots are moving quickly and must be purchased before the Mar. 1 deadline! More information and application can be found at http://www.appaloosa.com.

Also in 2008, the Appaloosa Horse Club commemorates 70 years of promoting and enhancing the unique color breed. Celebrate this milestone by taking a moment to learn about the magnificent history of the ApHC and the Appaloosa breed!

The Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) was established in 1938, with a mission of preserving, promoting and enhancing the Appaloosa breed. The ApHC has since registered more than 670,000 Appaloosas, which are known for their distinctive color, intelligence and even temperament. True to their reputation as an extremely versatile breed, Appaloosas can be found in nearly every discipline, including racing, endurance riding or serving as reliable family horses. The international breed registry is headquartered in Moscow, Idaho; the heart of the Palouse region, the Appaloosa breed’s namesake and point of origin.
