Appaloosa Horse Club Sponsor Exciting Equestrian Challenge

HARRISBURG, Penn.—The Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) is proud to sponsor Bob and Suzanne’s Wind Rider Equestrian Challenge at the Pennsylvania Horse World Expo Feb. 21-24, 2008 in Harrisburg, Penn. This exciting cross disciplinary competition is the horseperson’s opportunity to earn amazing prizes and work with internationally renowned clinicians.

The Wind Rider Equestrian Challenge, hosted by Bob Jeffreys and Suzanne Sheppard, is open to riders 14 years or older from all disciplines including western, dressage, hunter/jumpers, trail, natural horsemanship, gaited horse riders and more. The competition is open to all breeds, so get your Appaloosas out there and participate!

The preliminary rounds will take place Feb. 22-23, where 36 competitors and their horses will go head to head in a course inspired by dressage, reining patterns, trail obstacles, gymkhana and more.

The three top scoring participants will compete in the final challenge Sunday, Feb. 24, where they will be randomly paired with one of the following star clinicians: Matt McLaughlin, head trainer for the Royal Lipizzaner Stallion show; Julie Goodnight, an experienced equine educator; and Elizabeth Graves, a multi-licensed judge with decades of equine experience. Though they will work in pairs with their clinician, only the competitors will be scored.

The challenge will be judged by Lynn Palm of Palm Partnership Training and Scot Hansen of HorseThink.com.

The grand prize winner will receive a custom made saddle provided by master saddle maker, David Genadeck, About the Horse Inc. and Tree by Anotoree Ltd. The first runner-up will receive a $1,000 shopping spree from Orthoflex Saddleworks. The second runner-up will be awarded a $250 shopping spree from Professionals Choice. All three top point earners will be awarded trophies.

Those are not the only goodies—the Appaloosa Horse Club will provide ribbons and a special award for the highest placing Appaloosa. Each accepted participant will receive an About Saddle Fit DVD, a $30 value, courtesy of David Genadeck!

The cost of participation is $225; however, horse council and/or breed association members receive a 5% discount with proof of membership!
