Appaloosas bring the Colors of the World to Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, TEXAS— Exhibitors, owners, trainers, equine enthusiasts and nearly 900 of the world’s most colorful Appaloosas came together Oct. 24-Nov. 1 in Fort Worth, Texas at the Will Rogers Memorial Center for an exciting 2008 World Championship Appaloosa Show hosted by the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC)!

The annual 9-day international event showcased the world’s most talented Appaloosas and exhibitors, all of whom competed for amazing prizes and prestigious titles in 148 classes including cattle, western, English, jumping, games and halter, not to mention some of the equine industry’s most exciting competitions including the SR Gold Rope Race, Freestyle Reining, Timed Event Extravaganza and so much more!

The Timed Event Extravaganza proved to be exciting competition and entertainment. More than $40,000 was awarded in cash and prizes to the participants, including a horse trailer, courtesy of Twin Cities Featherlite, to the Overall High Point Timed Roping Champion. Dun Tweaker, owned by Rocking Double J Ranch of Conroe, Texas, earned this distinction.

In addition to exciting classes, two of the most coveted honors in the Appaloosa industry were awarded at the 2008 World Championship Appaloosa Show, including the Nutrena Iron Horse and World’s Best Appaloosa.

State of Dee Heart, a stunning and versatile stallion, earned the Nutrena Iron Horse title by competing in multiple events that displayed the Appaloosa’s abilities. Owners Ed and Missy Millhouse of Stillwater, Minn. took home a $10,000 prize and a beautiful bronze trophy, courtesy of Nutrena.

Ima Touch DZ left the 2008 World Championship Appaloosa Show as this year’s World’s Best Appaloosa! Debbie Sigler of St. Charles, Ill. is the proud owner of the talented Ima Touch DZ.

The ApHC proudly hosted a Toys for Tots Benefit in conjunction with Freestyle Reining on Halloween. The ApHC raised more than $1,700 and collected seven bins of new toys for the child of Fort Worth, Texas! The ApHC would like to thank everyone who contributed and made this charity event a success!

The new John Deere Gator, courtesy of the Appaloosa Members Advantage Program, was also awarded Halloween evening. ApHC member Steve Springer of Mansfield, Texas was the lucky winner who took home the John Deere Gator.

All in all, the 2008 World Championship Appaloosa Show was yet another exciting and successful ApHC event—total entries and exhibitor numbers were comparable to last year’s participation. This year’s show boasted a total of 2,383 open and non-pro entries. The ApHC had a wonderful a time and we are looking forward to many more World Championship Appaloosa Shows in Fort Worth, Texas!
