ASPCA® Equine Fund Lunch at CN Winter Equestrian Festival

Palm Beach, Fla., Jan. 30--One of the most popular events of the equestrian season-The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) Equine Fund Luncheon--is returning for its fifth consecutive year to The 2008 CN Winter Equestrian Festival presented by Zimmerman Advertising at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.

The Luncheon will be held on Sunday, February 3, with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres beginning at 11:30 a.m. More than 360 guests will enjoy watching, ringside at their tables in the Special Events Pavilion, some of the world's best riders and their mounts as they compete for the top spots in the $50,000 Smart For Life™ Grand Prix FEI-CSI 2*.

Chairing the Luncheon this year are Joanie Goodman of Palm Beach, Wellington, Southampton and Aspen; Kim Jacobs of Weston, Massachusetts and Wellington; Frances Lindner of Cincinnati, Martha's Vineyard and Wellington; and Majella Matyas of Bedminster, New Jersey. Mrs. Goodman, Mrs. Jacobs and Mrs. Lindner are well-known equestrians. Mrs. Matyas serves on the Board of Directors of the ASPCA, which is headquartered in New York City.

Vice-Chairs are noted equestrians Penelope Ayers, Arriana Boardman, R. Bruce Duchossois, Joan Kalman and Jenny Wren Sutton. Mrs. Ayers also serves as a Director on the ASPCA Board and is Chair of its National Committee.

The Luncheon's Special Honorees for this year are professional trainers/riders Ron Danta and Danny Robertshaw from Camden, S.C. The two are being recognized by the ASPCA Equine Fund for their exceptional work on behalf of homeless cats and dogs. In the past two years, Ron and Danny have found loving homes for over 700 dogs.

Proceeds from the Luncheon will go directly to the ASPCA Equine Fund, which is dedicated to helping abused, neglected and unwanted horses in the United States through direct intervention, grants, educational programs and lobbying efforts. Each year the ASPCA Equine Fund awards grants to recipients who meet the ASPCA's rigorous standards of care and responsibility. In 2007, the ASPCA distributed more than $365,000 in equine grants to 57 rescue group and humane organizations in 31 states.

Individual luncheon tickets are $250 per adult and $75 per child 12 and under. Reserved tables and sponsorship opportunities are also available. For tickets and tables, please contact the ASPCA's Special Events Department at 212.876.7700, extension 4652.
