Over the Hill Farm Ponies Rule at Atlanta Summer Classic II
Equestrian News Release
Conyers, GA- June 28- Over the Hill Farm finished up their successful series in the Atlanta Summer Classic this past week, June 22-26. It would have been hard to repeat last week’s dominance in the hunter divisions, but this week did not pale by comparison.
In the Pony Hunter divisions, Over the Hill Farm was not challenged. Fancy Feet lived up to his name as he won three classes in the Small Pony Hunter division and received third and second place ribbons in the remaining classes for the championship. Owned by Bill Schaub and Avera Ventures and ridden by Sophie Read, the dainty bay pony was tough to beat. Fancy Feet went on to win the Small Pony Hunter Classic. Read’s major competition was another pony, HiLite, whom she also rode for Bill Schaub. HiLite won two classes and finished second, fifth, and sixth in the other classes to receive the reserve championship.
Read was the unbeatable pony rider this past week. On Laura King Kaplan’s High Fashion, she captured the Medium Pony Hunter championship. Read and High Fashion won three classes in the division and were second, fourth, and fourth in the remaining three classes. In true fashion, the flashy liver chestnut pony went on to win the Medium Pony Hunter Classic. Read also piloted Pow Wow to third place in the WIHS Pony equitation class.
Not to be outdone, another top pony rider from Over the Hill Farm captured the Large Pony Hunter championship for the second week in a row. Megan Massaro rode Katie Hogan’s Hint of Blue to two wins, a third place, and a fourth place in the division. The pair also won the NHJL Large Pony Hunter Classic.
Massaro also rode another of Schaub’s great up-and-coming ponies, Dazzle M Blue, to the Pre-Green Pony Hunter championship. Dazzle M Blue won a class and received two third place ribbons for the tricolor. Massaro also finished second in the NCE Pre-Green Pony equitation 2’-2’6”.
Roberta Previ had another successful week in Atlanta, despite moving up to the larger Amateur-Owner 36 & Over division. Previ and Reveille were champions last week in the Adult Amateur Hunters, but had no problem with the larger fences this week, as they won three classes and finished up with a second and sixth place for the championship in the Amateur-Owners.
Toblerone and Lee Cesery repeated their performance from last week also, winning the Adult Amateur 46 & Over division. They won three classes and received a fifth place for the tricolor.
All in all, it was a very triumphant trip to the Atlanta Summer Classic for the riders of Over the Hill Farm. They hope to continue this success as they travel to shows throughout the summer.
