IRHA Hosts Two Clinics with Bill and Linda Black

The newly formed Indiana Ranch Horse Association (IRHA) will host two clinics with Bill and Linda Black of Cross 9 Ranch in preparation for the 2007 show season. The clinics will be held at Windmill Junction Farm in Claypool, Indiana, rain or shine. There is a 10-rider limit for both clinics, so preregistration is required. All auditors are welcome.

The first clinic will be a two-day event focusing on colt starting, problem solving, and horsemanship on February 24 and 25, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Blacks will lead participants in starting their own young horses under saddle and in improving their communication and performance with their riding horses.

The cost for the February clinic is $230 to ride all weekend and $125 to ride for one day. Auditors are welcome for $50 for the weekend or $30 per day. Contact Deb Orr at dko6672@earthlink.net or 574-551-6672 to register and for additional information.

The second clinic is scheduled for April 14 at 9 a.m. The Blacks will lead sessions on “Improving your Ranch Riding Skills” and “Secrets to Winning Trail Riding Classes.” This clinic focuses on the ranch riding and trail classes found at ranch horse competitions and will answer the questions that many competitors have in these popular events.

The cost for the April clinic is $125 per rider and $30 per auditor. Contact Candice Colbert at indianaranchhorse@earthlink.net or 260-839-0311 to register or with questions.

Bill and Linda Blacks' own Cross 9 Ranch is located in Spiceland, Indiana. The method of teaching and training they employ—the language of the horse—is universal and effective throughout the spectrum of equestrian sport. Linda’s undaunted patience and thoroughness with both horse and rider and Bill’s attention to detail attract students from all disciplines to their clinics. The Blacks are American Ranch Horse Association judges and teach clinics and lessons year-round.

The Indiana Ranch Horse Association is a charter organization of the American Ranch Horse Association. Formed at the end of 2006, the club is committed to providing opportunities to enjoy the versatile ranch horse in a friendly environment with competitions, educational opportunities, and social events. For more information about the Indiana Ranch Horse Association, contact president Candice Colbert at indianaranchhorse@earthlink.net or 260-839-0311.
