Around the block! Block party HITS the streets on Saturday, June 14 from 6-10 pm

SAUGERTIES, NEW YORK (June 3, 2008)--Together with the village of Saugerties and the merchants on both Main and Partition Streets, HITS is helping to coordinate the first-ever HITS Saugerties Block Party.

From 6 pm to 10 pm on Saturday, June 14, block-long sections of both Main and Partition Streets will be rocking for a family-focused street party. In addition to a musical performance by the band Powerhouse, sponsored in part by Naccarato Insurance and Win Morrison Realty, there will be numerous activities for the entire family to enjoy.

Highlighting the evening of fun and entertainment in Saugerties are several activities, including a special Grand Prix rider autograph session at Mirabella's, the Guinness Book of World Records test for the World's Largest Skateboard on Main Street, pony rides courtesy of Sharon Bach and Vertical Limit Stables in the parking lot of Stella's Station, a free concert by the band Powerhouse and an on-site broadcast by HITS Saugerties' Official Radio Station 94.3 The Wolf.

Most businesses will bring the party into their stores. Participating businesses include M&T Bank (crafts from the Saugerties Art Lab), Arcadia (light snacks and cocktails), Central Hotel (light snacks and cocktails), DIG (DJ Caviar spinning live in the store), Dutch Ale House (musical performance at 9 pm), Exchange Hotel (free pizza), Michael Nelson Photography (student photography opening), Partition St.Wine Shop (wine tasting), The Pig Bar & Grill (musical performance), Shelley K (art opening and light snacks and jazz piano with John Esposito), Stella's Station (musical performance), Sweet Lili (chocolate fountain), Trillium (wine tasting) and Village Pizza (fried dough).

Parking for the HITS Saugerties Block Party is available in all of the municipal lots in the village, including the lot adjacent to M&T Bank and behind Mirabella's. In addition, the parking lot at Cahill School may also be used, as well as the parking lot of Sawyer Savings Bank.

The HITS Saugerties Block Party is free and open to the public. For more information on the HITS Saugerties Block Party, please call HITS' Director of Special Events Chris Mayone at 845.246.8833 or e-mail Chris@HitsShows.com
