Allwyn Courtís Farnley Byron and Christina Firestone Win First Blue Ribbon

Katherine Newman and Costa Sur Ride for Ribbons in Low Junior Jumpers

Wellington, FL Ė February 20, 2007 Ė Allwyn Court, a show barn owned and operated by Kathy and Gerry Newman of Wellington, FL, received high placings this past week at the Winter Equestrian Festival.

One highlight for Allwyn Court was the blue ribbon won by Christina Firestone. Firestone rode Farnley Byron in the Small Pony Hunters for the first time, and she won her first blue ribbon at a major competition.

"Christina was great this weekend, really great," exclaimed Kathy Newman. "We needed someone to show our pony, and Christina showed one for us in Lake Placid last year. She did a wonderful job then, so we asked her to show Farnley Byron for us this week. She is a good little rider, very slick, and it was great for the pony to have her ride him. This was her first time showing him, and we couldnít be more pleased." Firestone, who is the niece of grand prix show jumper Alison Firestone Robitaille, also picked up eighth place in the Small Pony Hunters.

The Newmanís daughter, Katherine, who enjoys catch-riding at shows, earned second, two sevenths, and an eighth place in the Small Junior 16-17 Hunters for her catch-rides on Agincourt, owned by Dunwalke LLC. In addition, she took home a second, a seventh, and an eighth aboard Onassis, owned by Sarah Ward, in the Large Junior 16-17 Hunters. Also in the hunter ring, Melissa Cohn finished in second place with Bulgari in the under saddle class for the Adult Amateur 18-35 Hunter division.

In the jumper ring, Newman finished in second place with Costa Sur in the Low Junior Jumpers and took home eleventh in the Low Junior Jumper Classic. She also piloted Forever Blue, owned by Mimi Abel-Smith, in the equitation classes, and the duo came home with fifth place in the Washington International Horse Show Jumper Phase.

Allwyn Court will continue to show next week at the Bainbridge Farm Florida Classic CSI-W World Championship Hunter Rider Hunter Spectacular, which marks the fifth week of the Winter Equestrian Festival at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club in Wellington, FL.
