Boyce and Chown to Host World’s Greatest Horseman Broadcast

The National Reined Cow Horse Association and Wide World of Horses announced in late January that the episode featuring the NRCHA World’s Greatest Horseman competition will be hosted by Robbie Boyce and Robert Chown.

Boyce, of Jacksboro, Texas, was the 2006 World’s Greatest Horseman Reserve Champion. He boasts a long list of NRCHA accomplishments, most recently the 2007 Snaffle Bit Futurity Intermediate Open Championship.

From Gainesville, Texas, Chown also has been a top five finisher in the World’s Greatest, an NRCHA National Champion, and is a respected trainer for both NRCHA and National Reining Horse Association events. His career earnings are over $400,000.

“We are thrilled that Robbie and Robert will be hosting Wide World of Horses for this premier event,” said Jack Covington, co-owner of the popular weekly show that airs on RFD-TV. “Their backgrounds in the industry, and in the World’s Greatest Horseman, enables them to give the viewer an inside look at what the contestants are going through. This should be one of the most exciting episodes yet.”

The World’s Greatest Horseman contest is part of the NRCHA Fort Dodge Animal Health Celebration of Champions, slated for February 16-24 in Stephenville, Texas. Billed as “one horse, one rider and one very special title,” the event is just that, featuring some of the top trainers in the world, including former champions Ted Robinson, Bob Avila, Jon Roeser, Ron Ralls and Andy Adams.

The 30-minute highlight show will air on Monday night, April 7, at 9:30 pm CST and also on Monday at 11:30 am CST. It will air again on Sunday, April 13, at 6:30 am CST. Wide World of Horses airs on RFD-TV (DIRECT TV 379 and DISH NETWORK 231).

In its 8th year of broadcasting, RFD-TV serves the needs and interests of rural America, horse lovers, farmers & ranchers with traditional, family-oriented television programming. RFD-TV is distributed on DIRECTV, DISH Network, Mediacom, Charter, NRTC, Bresnan and NCTC cable systems in all 50 states, serving 28 million U.S. homes, with another 19 million homes in Brazil now enjoying selected RFD-TV shows through Terraviva.

The National Reined Cow Horse Association, the governing body of cow horse competition, is responsible for promoting the sport, insuring high standards of competition and educating members and the public about the history and tradition of the cow horse. Through the support of a Corporate Partner family that includes Wayne Hodges 4-Star Trailers and Outlaw Conversions, Bob's Custom Saddles, Cinch, Inc., Classic Equine, Gist Silversmiths, MD Barns, Platinum Performance, Inc., Nutrena, Quarter Horse News & Performance Horse magazine, the Peppermill Hotel/Resort, Fort Dodge West Nile Innovator, Rios of Mercedes, Merial products ULCERGARD and GASTROGARD, Great American Insurance Company and the Silver Legacy Hotel, the association works to keep the vaquero tradition alive in today’s equine industry.
