Unique opportunity being offered to breeders at the 11th International Luso-Brasileiro Auction

São Paulo, Brazil – At the 11th International Luso-Brasileiro Auction scheduled to take place at Coudelaria Ilha Verde on Saturday, May 10th, 2008, breeders will be offered a unique opportunity to acquire a total of 30 shares in covering services from the highly recommended Lusitano stallion Violino SS.

Violino is a son of Veiga stud farm’s legendary sire Ofensor, out of Querida, a Sociedade das Silveiras mare and daughter of the famous Invulgar. Bred by José Henriques Casquinha, Invulgar was champion of the three-year-old class at the International Lusitano Festival in Lisbon, and father of various champions and bullfighting horses.

Violino himself has never been beaten in competition, winning various age-group championships and also producing offspring that are claiming coveted victories.

In 2003, Violino was the yearling gold medalist at the International Lusitano Festival, and one year later was two-year-old class champion and also male champion of champions at the same event. In 2005 Violino became the three-year-old class champion and Lusitano breed champion at the National Horse Fair in Golegã. As a four-year-old, Violino was ridden class champion and successfully defended his breed champion’s title, again in Golegã.

Following in his sires footsteps, and inheriting his stunning qualities, Belmonte, one of Violino’s first sons, became the yearling gold medalist at the International Lusitano Festival in 2007.

The shares will be made available to the successful buyers on the basis of receiving two annual coverings in 2008, 2009 and 2010, which represents an outstanding investment given the rising costs of stallion services, especially those of such remarkable sires as Violino SS.

The auction will also offer an exceptional collection of carefully selected Lusitano horses encompassing a wide range of ages and sought-after bloodlines: from foals at foot to arena-ready, well-trained dressage horses. Continuing our previous profiling, and starting with the males:

• Zinco VO: Showing exceptional movement and already competing, the dam of this rising five-year-old is pure Andrade (daughter of Dragão II x Elmshorn), while his sire, Ravel VO, is a son of Venturoso III, one of the most important Veiga stallions.

•Zorro VO: Very docile and making beautiful progress, this tall burnt-chestnut stallion is now ready to fulfill his career functions. A son of Icaro, he is one of the most powerfully built stallions at this auction.

• Xalaça VP: A son of Donaire and Quica HI, by Quarteto do Top. This dark-buckskin stallion, bred by Fernando Prado Ferreira, is very well saddled and has a docile and generous temperament. He is one of the highlights of the 11th Internation Luso-Brasileiro Auction, as were his brothers, Ultraje VO, Urbe, Sopro de Quintana, Tander do Bosaque, Tamboré HM, and Thor VO (all exported to the USA) in previous years.

• Xerox do Castanheiro: A future champion – this beautiful grey stallion carries the blood of Malmequer, and is ready for competition training.

Among the mares:

• Avelã VO: An exceptional type, Avelã VO’s bloodline carries important names such as Andaluz UB, Universo, Lidador II, Canalha and Guizo. In foal to Quadro do Top, this mare will be a leader in any breeding programme.

• Zafira dos Filhos do Vento: A young mare with an enviable pedigree. A daughter of Pardal and Música dos Filhos Vento, she represents the most sought-after Veiga/Andrade blood. She is the epitome of lightness and beauty, and also in foal to Quadro do Top.

Finally …

• Zagaia and Zurco VO: An incredible opportunity to acquire a fully-trained, matched pair of Lusitano mares; sisters and cousins, daughters of Icaro from two daughters of Bandarilha APP. A spectacular driving duo, also well saddled and showing exceptional progress. To complete the package, Ilha Verde is optionally offering a covering service by one of its excellent stallions.

These Lusitano profiles offer a brief insight into some 30 lots that will be offered during the 11th International Luso-Brasileiro Auction, scheduled to take place at Coudelaria Ilha verde on Saturday, May 10th, 2008.
