Her 2004 record in the Jumper Division aboard her Dutch
Warmblood, Onira, is outstanding. Goutal finished first at the $10,000 Welcome Stake - Hampton
Classic Horse Show; was a member of the Gold Medal Show Jumping Team FEI North American
Young Rider Championships and the Gold Medal Show Jumping Team Prix des States - Pennsylvania
National Horse Show; was Reserve Jumper Champion at the Devon Horse Show; and took four
first-place finishes en route to being named the WEF Junior Jumper Circuit Champion.
Her horsemanship accomplishments are equally impressive and include first-place finishes at the
USET Show Jumping Talent Search Finals-East; WEF Equitation Championship for the R.W. Mutch
Trophy; Washington International Equitation Classic; and the USEF Hunter Seat Medal and ASPCAMaclay
classes at the Devon Horse Show, as well as placing second in the USEF Hunter Seat Medal
Finals and North American Equitation Championships.
“The USET Foundation is faced each year with the tough decision of awarding the Lionel Guerrand-
Hermes Trophy,” said Frank V. Lloyd, Chairman, USET Foundation. “This year’s recipient, Brianne
Goutal, has the talent to reach the same heights as past winners of this prestigious award, such as
Olympians Greg Best, Chris Kappler, and McLain Ward.”
“To watch Brianne train and compete, you see the maturity and competitive instincts of some of
our most seasoned and experienced elite athletes,” said Bonnie B. Jenkins, Executive Director, USET
Foundation. “I’m confident that there are many more victories in her future as she continues her
training, gains international experience, and achieves her potential as one of the preeminent elite
equestrian athletes for the United States in the coming years.”
Brianne is a student at the Professional Children’s School in Manhattan.
Goutal will accept the trophy before the world’s top show jumping and dressage riders at the
World Cup Finals in Las Vegas on April 23.
