Brianne Link of JT Farm Wins Two WEF Circuit Championships

Wellington, FL - March 31, 2009 - JT Farm had a fantastic finish to their winter season this past week, with riders placing well in the hunters and equitation. Brianne Link of East Islip, NY, won two Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) Circuit Championships. Link rides with JT Farm's trainer Jimmy Toon. JT Farm is based in South Salem, NY, and Wellington, FL.

Link is no stranger to the winner's circle or to WEF circuit championships. The 10-year-old won the Children's Pony Hunter and Pony Jumper circuit championships last year and was the Short Stirrup circuit champion in 2007. She made the move up to jumpers and horses this year with ease.

Link and Silas V, a six-year-old Rhinelander gelding, were the Children's 14 & Under Hunter circuit champions. They won the division championship in weeks one and two and won a class in almost every week that they competed. In week six, they beat 110 other horses to win the $2,500 NAL Florida Children's Hunter Classic.

Silas V was imported in November from Europe by Jimmy Toon. Linda Link, Brianne's mother, said it was "love at first sight" for Brianne and Silas. She said, "He floats on air and is absolutely beautiful. He's extremely affectionate too; he's the only horse that I've had lick my face! He's as affectionate as a dog, and I've never seen that in a horse before. He absolutely loves Brianne. They were a perfect match."

No one expected Brianne and Silas to start winning so quickly, and Linda said her daughter was "on cloud nine" when she found out that she won the division championship. "We never expected this to happen," she added. "We thought this year would be for Brianne to learn about her horse, so we were blown away by it. Hopefully they will continue on this path. They'll be a very good team for a long time."

Brianne and Silas will continue to show in the Children's Hunters and medal classes. Depending on their success this summer, they may start doing junior hunter classes by the end of the year. "Jimmy will decide when they're ready to move up together as team," Linda noted.

Brianne and her pony jumper Tallyman have more experience together, but they were just as successful this winter. Tallyman, a ten-year-old Westphalian gelding, has been extremely consistent. They won the division championship in weeks one, six, and seven, and they placed in nearly every class that they competed in.

Last year Brianne "begged for a jumper," so they decided to start out in the Pony Jumper division. That decision paid off when Brianne's riding skills improved dramatically. Linda explained, "Brianne is still just 10 years old; she's a little kid with no muscle. Tallyman really taught her how to be strong and find her strength, to lean back, ride in her heels, and adjust for a distance. He's given her so much that she could never have learned on a horse before. He also gave her that edge to be able to go on a horse. He's very safe and a very good boy."

Both Linda and Brianne gave credit to their great horses and the Jimmy Toon's training. Linda said, "Brianne is extremely competitive, and she's only known winning. She's been very fortunate to always win. She works very hard and gives up other things to ride. That commitment for a 10-year-old is amazing."

Brianne is also proud of her commitment to the Just World International, which helps raise funds to provide basic education, nutrition, health and hygiene programs, and vocational training for children in impoverished communities. Brianne raised $1,000 to put a roof on a community center in Guatemala, and she will travel there to compete as an international rider in April.

In addition to Brianne's success, other JT Farm riders were successful in their last week of WEF competition. Ellen Toon and Attache finished the circuit well with a reserve championship in the Amateur-Owner Over 35 Hunters. They received two seconds and three thirds in the division.

Taylor Kain and JT Farm's Spock competed in the WIHS Equitation Classic. They were third in the hunter phase and seventh in the jumper phase to finish fifth overall in the class. Carolyn Lichtenberg rode I-Toon, owned by JT Farm, to second place in the ASPCA Maclay class.

For the finest hunter, equitation, and jumper instruction in the South Salem, NY, and Wellington, FL, areas, look no further than JT Farm. At JT Farm, riders of all levels are welcome and are afforded the very best training by a staff of experienced, caring professionals who are committed to excellence in the show ring in equitation, hunters and jumpers.
