Caitie Hope and Lyle Make Perfect Match at Pennsylvania National Horse Show

Harrisburg, PA - October 15, 2008 - Caitie Hope of Barrington, IL, had another stellar week of competition at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg, PA. Hope piloted Lyle to the championship in the Small Junior 16-17 Hunter division for the second week in a row. The pair also won the top tricolor at the Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, MD, the previous week. Hope trains with Diane Carney of Telluride Farm.

Lyle, owned by Stephanie Keen, is one of many talented horses at Don Stewart Stables Inc., and Hope trains with Don Stewart when showing his winning mount. "Caitie is the perfect match for Lyle," commented Stewart. "She rides with feel and confidence and lets him do his job." Lyle was also champion last year at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in the Small Junior 15 and Under Hunter division with Taylor Ann Adams. "After another year as champion, Lyle has added his name as one of the all time greats in show hunter history," he smiled.

For her impressive rides, Hope was recognized as one of the top four finalists for the Best Child Rider on a Horse Award, capturing second place.

"She did exactly what she did at Capital Challenge," stated Carney. "She went in and won the first two classes. She has the capacity to walk in and put down two really good trips, and now she just needs to make the third jumping class count. She has the ability to go forward, see the fences nicely and get the job done."

Along with her consistent success at indoors, Hope has had a tremendous year in the show ring. Earlier this year, she captured the HITS Ocala Circuit Championship in the older Small Junior Hunters on Lyle, and the pair was recognized with the Circuit Championship at the Tampa Equestrian Festival. Hope was presented with the William R. "Bill" Fitch Sportsmanship Award before the start of the $200,000 Budweiser American Invitational in Tampa, and she also won the small junior hunter championship with Lyle at the Atlanta Spring Premiere Horse Show in Conyers, GA.

In addition, she was repeatedly in the winner's circle in Spruce Meadows and had countless victories at Equifest and the Showplace Production Horse Shows in Illinois. She found success at the USEF Junior Hunter Finals, where she won the older Small Junior Hunter reserve championship on Lyle and earned second place in the challenging USHJA Hunterdon Equitation Cup. At the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair, she was recognized as one of four top juniors for the Best Child Rider on a Horse Award.

"It was a neat surprise to be second for the Best Child Rider Award at Harrisburg," noted Carney. "I guess they had posted a list of riders near the course, but we didn't see it. Don [Stewart] called and asked us if we would be there for the presentation because Caitie had been nominated."

"It's an honor for her to be acknowledged out of all the great riders and recognizable names at Harrisburg," she said. "I think it speaks of her consistency and the fact that she's always beautifully turned out, with a serious intent to participate and compete. You work your entire junior career to win a class at indoors, let alone be champion or win such an esteemed award. I am so appreciative of all the help Don gives Caitie," she added. "He really is an artist. He knows all of his horses and knows exactly what needs to happen in the schooling ring to get results in the show ring."

Carney is based out of Hampshire, IL, at her hunter/jumper show stable, Telluride Farm. She has been both an active participant and influential trainer in the hunter and jumper community for many years. Her contributions to the industry extend to the many clinics that she teaches every year, in addition to those that she hosts annually for U.S. Show Jumping Chef d'Equipe George H. Morris and top hunter/jumper trainer Don Stewart Jr.
