Award-winning photographer Lynn Cassels-Caldwell signs on with Phelps Images

Wellington, FL – April 12, 2006 – With the launch of Phelps Images just a few short months away, Vice President Peter Llewellyn is delighted to announce the latest affiliate to join their roster: renowned equestrian photographer Lynn Cassels-Caldwell. Home-based in Lakefield, Ontario, Lynn’s involvement with horses spans over 25 years and encompasses a multitude of disciplines.

Phelps Images is a joint venture between Phelps Media Group, Inc., International and HorseSource Ltd. One of the world’s largest stock photo agencies for equestrian images, HorseSource has serviced the industry for some 25 years. A huge resource of over 500,000 images, including a historic collecting dating back to the 1880s, and encompassing no fewer than 19 Olympic Games, HorseSource represents the most comprehensive library of equestrian photography worldwide. In a joint statement announcing the launch of Phelps Images, President of Phelps Media Group, Mason Phelps Jr., said: “With the exponential growth Phelps Media Group has celebrated in the past year, we were ready to take another step towards broadening our role within the equestrian industry as a whole. Our involvement with HorseSource and an on-going commercial and professional relationship with Peter will provide another valuable string to the PMG bow.” Peter Llewellyn was similarly excited about this dynamic new venture: “Phelps Media Group employs a highly dedicated group of individuals and the formation of Phelps Images represents a major step forward for the equestrian industry, and in particular one-stop shopping for images and media services worldwide.”

The latest recruit to Phelps Images, Lynn Cassels-Caldwell has extensive training in fine art, completing studies in photography, art and sculpture at Sir Sandford Fleming College. Lynn has won numerous awards and her work has been published regionally, nationally and internationally. Alongside her competition assignments, Lynn has also enjoyed a special relationship with light and heavy horse breeds. Lynn has owned, trained and shown her own horses for over 25 years, a background that has afforded her extraordinary insights that characterize her photography by capturing the natural charm of the horse in any environment. “From an early age I was a willing victim to the disease of loving horses.” At the age of 13 she landed her dream job of grooming nearly 20 Arabians at a local breeding/show stable after school. It wasn’t long before she had her own horse, and photography followed soon after: “Armed with a borrowed camera, and inspired by the gorgeous pro photos in glossy horse magazines, I would hang out in the pasture with various groups of horses, watching, waiting for the perfect moment with a horse expressed itself beautifully.” Lynn credits this early grounding to her ultra-fast ability to read any given animal and her photo timing. Lynn’s attention to detail, quality work and positive, flexible nature have made her a favorite at a great many shows.

Lynn’s artistic skills were given an evolutionary boost with the advent of digital photography, combining her fine art background in horse portraiture with today’s new technology: “Shooting digital has really brought the fun back into photography. Its freshness and immediacy have actually increased my photographic skills.” Most recently, she was awarded second place in the Professional/Artistic division of Equine Ideal 2006 for her stunning photo of horses drawing a sleigh through the winter-wonderland of a forest under snow.

According to Peter Llewellyn; “Lynn’s artistry will add a unique facet to Phelps Images. With her exceptional eye and the digital tools available to photographers today, a professional with Lynn’s abilities is a very welcome addition to our team.”
